Finally a place in town where I can find delicious crispy rice. I also got their big eye tuna tart which was good but could do without the sauce but was still good nevertheless. Their pineapple fried rice is as good as what I could find in Chinatown. If you still prefer to outdoor dine , they do not have heaters but will open outdoor dining if you prefer to do so. What johnc502 doesn't like about Hyotan Modern Japanese:
A poor excuse for a Vietnamese restaurant. They claim the chef trained at Le Bernadin and Guy Savoy in Paris but he must have forgotten the basics. Food over salted , presentation amateurish and a crew that do not understand Vietnamese food! View all feedback.

Put an order through grubhub , got a totally wrong order , called the restaurant, manager put the responsibility on grubhub and was rude. Called grubhub and was told the restaurant made a mistake. Called asiana back and they again did not take responsibility. So avoid Asiana . I will never order from asiana again
Never liked this place although everyone else seems to. We stopped for appetizers and a drink last year and thought it was good. Wrong. Summer rolls were all lettuce, peanut sauce too thin. Pork dumpling good. Other appetizers OK. My Thai Curry Sauce was worst curry ever-broth had no taste. Cuke/Avocado Roll was good, Others had sushi which they liked. Maybe just ordered wrong, but of my 10 or so visits it had been average at best.
The omakase was so good better than any NYC places. It is wonderful go to place for having sushi and omakase.
