Basil's Restaurant & Pizzeria

I want to love basils, but I am always disappointed by what I command when I go there. had the chicken marsala recently and was disappointed first to see it was baked and fried - maybe this is the way chicken marsala is always, but the menu didn't hit it. the kitchen is overreached on black pfeffer to season the food, and this is the only taste that the sweet has worn. meh, at best for eating. 1/2 price wein (donnerstags drink special) and terrace weather were nice.

Waited for an hour after the order. waiter always asked if we wanted to pack our appetizers. at last you said we were waiting for our dinner. Fifteen minutes later she said the kitchen was secured and our food was just prepared.

We've wanted to try Basil's since moving to Winterville in 2021. The service leaves MUCH to be desired, the pasta salad is not pasta salad at all; its macaroni salad.. You'd think an Italian restaurant would know the difference.. I ordered a Cuban sandwich, it was like eating a brick. As for service, it took the waiter 20 minutes to even acknowledge that we were in the restaurant and when he finally got to us, he apparently didn't listen to our needs. We ordered an appetizer (as a type 1 diabetic, it was kind of important); never received it. Our meal came out about 30 minutes after ordering. Moral of this story, go anywhere else but here..

A few of us stopped in for a quick bite and a few beers...a pizza, calamari and grilled cheese. Food was great, beer was great and service was great!
