The Halyard is a spacious restaurant featuring multiple dining areas. We chose to sit in the older section, which has red wood trim on the walls and deck, creating an ambiance reminiscent of an antique ship. It was delightful. What User doesn't like about The Halyard At Sound View:
As usual, the service left much to be desired. The staff were rude and inattentive, seeming more interested in another group of patrons. We waited 35 minutes for our first drink, even though there were only a handful of customers in the restaurant. We were seated right in front of the kitchen, despite at least six empty tables elsewhere.

Very small portions and limited menu choices. Views of the ocean and sunset are incredible.

Food and service were outstanding. Our server Emily was exceptional.
Although our experiences in the past have been outstanding our last two visits have been a major disappointment. Our first visit this season was on our anniversary, we made a reservation for dinner and upon arrival we find out they weren’t serving dinner, why did they accept a dinner reservation? That evening we found the staff to be unprofessional, inexperienced and somewhat juvenile-no apology was offered for the mistake, just a blank stare from the young girl behind the desk. Our second experience was pleasant but the wait staff were again inexperienced. Food was ok but not what it had been in previous visits. Getting drink orders correct was somewhat challenging and when it came time to get the check our server was MIA? We waited 15 minutes to pay our bill! I believe in second chances but there will be no third from us.
Everything was excellent, they do work to accommodate. Only caveat was the price charged for very tiny snow crab claws. It was our repeat visit because we enjoy it there very much. Order Lady in Pink Cocktail if you like Negroni.
