New China City - Grand Haven

Great first visit. I wasn't in New China City, but had heard from a dear friend that she only ordered Chinese food from New China City. When I trust her judgment, I decided to try it myself. I ordered a lunch Special Chicken Black Bean (Fermented Black Bean and an order from Chicken Chow Mei Fun (not a Lunch Special). I was pleased to see how fresh (as many of the reviews here also noticed and not about salted the food was. The fermented black bean was not strong, it is cooked in a way that would be good for someone who would be introduced to this new taste. Personally, I would have preferred to be a bit stronger as I grew up eating dishes with fermented black bean, but it wasn't a deal breaker for me at all. The rice was delicious and the taste reminded me of the rice my parents would make in their restaurant when I was a child. For the Chicken Chow Mei Fun it was pleasant and not oily at all! I don't know that I give him a fair chance/review, because my mind went back to my childhood and eat fermented black bean dishes. So I had a few bites and will come back to the noodles at a later time. It has been sitting for a few hours and still looks delicious, so I'll still enjoy it for dinner. I look forward to the noodles later today and I hope to be back and try the shrimp in lobster sauce!

Delicious flavors!! We ordered Rangoons, Cashew Chicken, lo my, soups, egg rolls, sweet sour shrimps and chicken. It was all delicious! We're traveling from Indianapolis. The hotel restaurant was not so great and New China City saved the evening for this hungry family of 4!! Let's order again when we get to Grand Haven.

Hands down the best Chinese restaurant in the area, I'm sad I moved and can't come here so often. Great food and good prices.

Friendly people. Your house fried rice and egg rolls were really good. Good price too. I'll go back there. Recommend this place to others in town.

For years our family has been enjoying the occasional meal from this family owned business. The people and atmosphere match the quality of the food... fantastic. Thank you !
