Specializes in a variety of cheesecakes and muffins. Interesting quirky interior with a hodgepodge of items reminding older patrons of their youth ex. table top hockey. Welcoming staff. View all feedback.
We stopped in for breakfast after leaving St. Pierre on the 8 am ferry. It was recommended by the person in the St. Pierre Visitor Centre in Fortune. Grand Bank is about a 10 to 15 minute drive from the ferry. A small café popular with locals so you know it is excellent. I had the French toast with hash browns. Delicious and well priced. Lots of items for sale by local craftspeople. Friendly staff.
I had a lovely afternoon cheesecake and coffee at this little spot and later a delicious Cod au Gratin! It’s like a little time capsule inside with dozens of curiosities.
We went here for a nice lunch but the real highlight is dessert. Cheesecake to be specific. I had the baked apple cheesecake, which really doesn’t have apple in it....but a local berry. Very tasty.
What a neat place to find on my road trip! So much character and charm with lovely people running it. Everything was fresh, fairly well priced, and served quickly. Good portions even options for half portions of things, which I appreciated. Loved that the locals congregate here and are welcoming and friendly to those passing through. Many unique things for sale and on display as well. Will definitely be back if I’m in the area again!
Despite the recommendations and reviews, I will not be returning to this restaurant or recommending it. I had the worst Newfoundland cold plate of my life. The turkey was very dry, the potato salads lacked flavor, and the square-cut carrot and beet jelly salad was awful. The cheesecake was okay. I am disappointed as I had expected more from this place.
