We couldn't read the menu, and even with help weren't sure what we were ordering. However, random selection led to us ordering a number of excellent dishes. Everything we tried was good--several mains, a few appetizers, desserts. The food was Thuringian and delicious, and we ate there several times. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Restaurant Weinschanke:
I was there with 3 friends, we didn't have a table booked what we got a stange look from the waiter for. We were left to choose our own table, while approaching one in a corner we were briefly told "that's reserved", so we went to another one. The same waiter was not very welcoming while taking orders. food was very enjoyable though, prices are fair. For prices and food I do recommend this restaurant, but staff should... View all feedback.

The menu is not very large, but the dinner dishes are well prepared and taste striaghtforwardly delicious.
When entering the restaurant, your eyes might have to adapt to the dim light before you find your way and your table of choice. There are heavy wooden tables and chairs which suits the old classic citizen house very well. The best advise when it comes to drinks is of course wine (since it is a wine tavern). They have a good selection of wines, the best advise is to stick to the German ones, offered for a very decent price. For the meal itself, visitors to Thuringia might want to try "Rostbrätel", a real local specialty. It is a specially spiced and pickled pork meat which is oftenly served with Thuringian dumplings and red cabbage.Enjoy your stay & guten Appetit!

Very cozy place, with dark wood on the walls and ceiling extremely classic place, service perfect and typical German (a bit heavy but tasty) food, and a beautiful glass of wine. happy to find such an authentic place
