Ye Olde Resteraunt And Fish Shope - Feedback

Was permia at Ye Olde Resteraunt And Fish Shope a mag?
There’s a busy takeaway on the ground floor so ascending the stairs took us to the atmospheric seating area. White washed walls with dark brown timber make for a cosy traditional space. But most importantly the food was very good, with the fish dishes plus chips very tasty and satisfying. With a cool refreshing beer. Staff were pleasant and helpful and very efficient. What Jules of Radstock dislikes about Ye Olde Resteraunt And Fish Shope:
Firstly, I will say that the fish and chips were good. However the portions were minute. Ordered a large fish and chips, but the fish was tiny. Was told it was large, not many chips either. When I left, the takeaway counter didn't have anything as small as the portion I was served. Also wanted another £1 for a small sachet of tarteare sauce. View all feedback.

Lovely old building with great history. Waited a while for meal to be served as the policy is to serve the downstairs takeaway customers first. Why they have speakers blaring out 1960s hits in such a beautiful setting, I cant comprehend. We had to ask staff to turn the racket down twice. Even then it was annoying. However, on the plus side the meal was first class when it came. Great fish n' chips. Just sort out the noisy music.
I would say the food is just as good as any other fish and chip shop, let 's remember we 're talking about fried potatoes here. I ordered a regular chips, sausage and curry sauce to take away and was charged over £10 for the privilege. I know prices have increased recently but am I wrong to consider this widely excessive. I just wish I had the nerve to laugh and walk out. And they tried to tell me they were 'cash only ' until I said I would only pay by card....then a card machine appeared, as if by magic.

The olde fish and chip shop in Gloucester in fact the best ever. The staff are very friendly. If I am in town and fancy fish and chops I would not go anywhere else. Whether You dine in or take away the experience is great
Reviews for the restaurant mention varying experiences with the food quality, service, and pricing. Some customers found the fish and chips to be good but overpriced, with small portions and poor value for money. Others enjoyed the traditional atmosphere, tasty food, and efficient service. There were also complaints about the lack of card payments and the taste of some dishes. Overall, the restaurant seems to have a mixed reputation, with some customers recommending it for a pleasant dining experience and great fish and chips, while others prefer alternative options in the area.
