What Monserrat Fahey doesn't like about The Farmasea:
Ordered the Farmasea Breakfast with sausage, 2 eggs over easy. The sausage was like Italian sausage not cooked on a grill more like steamed or microwaved causing the dish to be extra greasy. No toast on the plate, 1 egg well fried. Not good. The Chicken Waffles could have been really good if the grease that was used was fresh not shared with other food that is fried. We ordered a virgin **** Mary that came in a huge... View all feedback.

My first visit to this restaurant was fabulous! the service, the menu, the piano player, the atmosphere. all perfect! great visit to visit with friends from the city. we all loved everything and I can't wait to go again!
I found this place and my whole wife and I can say is wow and amazing, for which a great fund the baked brie should die. the woman had the laughs and I had the ny strip top guy. we'll be here a lot. on Friday and Saturday evening they have a live pianist who simply sets the perfect mood. make sure they book reservations that they always packaged and booked. highly recommended.
Amazing eating in a super cozy atmosphere! highlights for me were the mood stablizer, pork cracklins, bang shrimp and ny strip w/ fried shrimp. bartender and server were so friendly and friendly?! good eating is a good mood the farmasea and chef supply 100%! do you like and come to you!
Lots of ups and downs but overall positive vibes and we will return. Hopefully, they will have acquired new chairs to sit on because a mere square foot of miserably hard and pokey! wicker on which to plant my behind while dropping $200 on a meal did not start our first visit on a positive note. Seriously, the chairs need to go. Enter the establishment and feast your eyes on a real live piano just inside the dining area. Passed a couple of sumptuous large-party tables, and well-spaced tables nearer to the piano then headed back to the bar where there are pub tables and bar seating. Thats when I first noticed the feather-light, rickety, torture devices on which we must sit for the duration. I dont get it. They cant really be cleaned and a dining experience isnt supposed to be a race to leave before your legs go numb on the hard edges of the chair that best belongs in a roadhouse with sawdust and peanut shells on the floors. And, at grandma’s house, a chair like that typically gets a chair pad, but these do not have one, (perhaps a blessing, see: cleaning) and heaven help you if youre also short because now you sit about chin level with the edge of the table. This was all flashing through my mind as we settled in to try it out anyway. We sat at the bar and our server-slash-barkeep was as friendly and attentive and helpful as can be. Another gal came and went and made friendly chit chat and we truly enjoyed every aspect of the excellent service. So, lets get to the food because it deserves sonnets be written in ode to its greatness. Another low after the high of the warm service reception was not being able to get some dish I had seen posted here. That is in no way a criticism… more like a delightful tease and anticipation setter that tells me I need to pay attention to the changing tides. The fact that the menu can and might change daily is a game changer in this town. There are a couple nice places around Gloucester, but there is no variety week in week out. Farmasea has got it right and I keep checking back to see what is new. So what I did get to order was the Beef Wellington and it did not disappoint. My highest compliment is that I cant make it this good nor am I inclined to try when they have elevated it to an artform already. The pastry was flaky and not mushy inside, perfectly seasoned and the pile of heavenly wilted spinach found hiding under the pile of tender yellow carrots was a surprise and a delight. Spot-on rare-medium cut was surrounded by a moat of creamy mashers and savory gravy. I asked for salt, but didnt need it… there was coarse salt in all the right places and I dont think I spoke a word till the plate cleared. Hubby got the stuffed flounder and it was a beautiful dish but he wasnt all that willing to share. I got one bite and it was dreamy. Red wine from a decent list. Specialy Cocktails are a little weird for my taste but moods change so I may try one someday. By dessert, my legs were numb and I wanted out of that miserable chair. We split banana foster cheesecake and it was just ok. They could go for the win by making actual bananas foster. Stopped into the ladies room… where did you get that tile? Dreamy blue sorta shabby chic beachy feel to it. Is it weird I took a photo and am actively looking for something similar? Lose the chairs and keep that menu changing! Really looking forward to our next visit!
