Our friends invited us to their hidden jewel of a restaurant in Montrose. They've been here for years with their two daughters, but this time was a few dates night. Everything we ordered was delicious. The drinks are casual old time cocktails from zombies (all iterations) to Apple Martinis. All their “house” liars are actually top-shelf. Get up to her houseburgers! View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about John Sparr Tavern:
I felt like I was walking into a private club of which I am not a member. The experience wasn't bad, it was just strange, like I didn't belong there. Also, my drinks had no effect on me, which was unusual because I'm a lightweight. The salad was heavily drenched in dressing. View all feedback.
John Sparr is absolutely the best! Amazing cocktails, great classic food, fantastic service. It's my favorite hands down. If you're looking for an old school restaurant that puts your experience first and exceeds your expectations this is it.
Classic UK pub atmosphere minus perhaps a dart board or two amd the menus but likely no room for dart boards. Small bar but interesting Hawaiian themed cocktails. Decent craft on tap. Appetizers and entrees were both quite good though again, it's the pub look, not pub menu, certainly not a British pub menu anyway. Overall a place I'd frequent if I lived in or around Montrose. Recommended.
Dinner Saturday evening was delightful. The setting is very relaxed. Moderate prices. Food and drink excellent (have the sand dabs stuffed with crab meat). Service is outstanding ‘old school’ pros here!
We went for corned beef and cabbage, carrots and potatoes for St. Patrick's day. It was delicious. Best corned beef ever!
First time visiting this spot. The food was amazing but the service was beyond. The men that work here are just so kind and thoughtful. This will be our new date night spot.
