We made a reservation for friends and were promptly seated by the friendly staff upon arrival. Our water glasses were always kept full, and we were able to bring our own wine. The menu offers something for everyone, including the Quebecois delicacy "Poutine." The restaurant is also open to walk-ins looking to dine in style. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about L'Academie:
We were a family of 8 for lunch. Our waitress was the best part of the experience. She was bilingual, patient and professional. The food presentation was good but the taste was lacking and the seafood was bordering on the bad side. My sister in law was vomiting after eating the mussels. None of us will be going back. Should have known better-since there was only one other table occupied by 1pm View all feedback.
Perfect for families. Best mussels in town, duck poutine is excellent, very good prices and even as a kids menu.
On Thursday November 17, 2016, a group of seven in our family went to le Restaurant l’Académie Gatineau at 1100, boulevard Maloney in Gatineau. This newer restaurant is located inside the mall of les Promenades Gatineau. It is part of a chain of restaurants that our found mainly in the Montreal and Laval area. There is ample parking near the front of the restaurant since this is the mall parking lot. We had made reservations to be seated for diner in the back area where the larger tables can be found. The menu is quite varied and is also available online (in French or English) so anybody can take a look at it before deciding what to try. The type of restaurant is gastronomic and the type of cuisine is Italian and French. As we entered the restaurant a waitress was quick to have us settle in and asked us for drinks. We waited that all family members had arrived and were seated with their drinks before we started ordering diner. For entrees and appetizers my wife chose l’Escargot à l’Ail and I chose la Coquille St-Jacques. Both of these entrees were unbelievably sumptuous in taste and served hot. As for the main dishes she chose the Atlantic salmon served with rice and fresh vegetables and I chose the Mosaique Dinner also known as Surf and Turf which is a filet mignon with shrimps and scampies. Again both of these main dishes were incredibly delicious and cooked as requested. Please note that this restaurant is a bring your own (BYO) wine for no additional fees. For desert we finished with a crème brulée with tea or coffee. This Thursday evening was very busy but we still enjoyed ourselves. The service we received from our waitress was very professional and efficient. We would recommend le Restaurant l’Académie Gatineau for its fine dining that is sure to delight any guest but be sure to make your reservations.

On July 8, 2017, my family and I were invited to the beautiful restaurant in Shawinigan. We were all enchanted by the experience, especially our children who were very happy with their choice of restaurant. A special thank you to Jonathan for making our little family outing so enjoyable. Warm regards from all of us, Jonathan. - Roger Louis
