This restaurant offers the best catfish and seafood in Alabama that I've ever had, and the service was excellent. Plus, the nearby ducks are friendly and can be fed with food from a 25-cent machine. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Top O' The River:
The food was ok, but not fabulous. The best part of the restaurant was our waitress, Abby. She was very attentive and offered suggestions when needed. She recommended the broiled crawfish tails, and they were very good. Catfish was a bit dry. The view is beautiful, and seems to be a very popular restaurant. Big portions, just wasn't real content with most of my food choices....plus I would have like to seen more appe... View all feedback.
10 stars! I was afraid how full the parking was. they were on their game! we didn't have to wait. service was so amazing! eating was perfect and platter sizes were enough to fill them and some. the best culinary experience I had for years. comes back in definitiw. I wish they had a few options on seafood next to just fried.
The first time to eat here. it was always great and it is absolutely delicious! and my waiter is also great! very happy I picked up
We always do our birthday dinners here, then go to the Drive-in in Center Alabama. Top O' River never disappoints. Be sure to get the turnip greens with the appetizer.
Great experience all the way around. The corn bread served in those little Iron skillets was simply amazing. It is obvious that the kitchen is well organized. The food is staged perfectly, and streaming hot when it arrives. This was a busy time, and the waiter had perfect timing. Our drinks never ran dry. Great job. We will be back.
I’ve heard of this place for years, and as many times as we’ve traveled to this area for business and leisure, this was our first time to try it. With all the local historical photos on the walls, you get a riverboat vibe when you first walk inside. We came on a Thursday night, and it wasn’t totally packed out, but was busy. However, there was no wait, and our gracious server, David, was on top of things. He brought our drinks promptly, as well as our appetizer of delicious greens with the regular “passarounds” of coleslaw and cornbread, which was also good! The two of us ordered the Biggest Seafood Platter in the world for $28.95, and honestly, we could have easily fed 3-4 adults off of everything we ordered. We will be eating it again tomorrow night! The food was very good, especially the greens, popcorn shrimp, boiled shrimp, and catfish. We will return next time we’re in the area! Thank you, David, for your excellent service and friendly smile!
