Highly recommend this place for brunch. We all loved the Canvas signature dish: shak-shuka, with braised lamb. Service crew are extremely helpful and attentive to details. Visited the café during winter, but they have heaters to keep the place warm and cozy. Nice place for Alfresco dining, allowing you to enjoy the cool breeze. View all feedback.

Had lunch here before the concert in the grounds of the Arts Centre. We had not been in the cafe for a few years. The Canvas sun brollies were not there so maybe needs a name change. The trees had spread over the courtyard so I guess the...brollies are not needed? The menue was slimmed down quite a bit,I had the mushrooms on toast and hubby had the scrambled egg on toast. They were both each ,just a bit on the expensive s... Have visited the gallery on a number of occasions and decided to finally stop for lunch. Location is nice and sitting outside is very pleasant. Our group ordered from the lunch menu although I opted for the 'Special', southern fried chicken with fries. Service was ok but the lady who actually bought out all our meals was great, friendly and helpful throughout. Unfortunately food wise everything fell short. Our dessert arrived first (?) food followed and drinks came very late. My chicken was not bad but the bun was burnt and chips fried to an inch of their lives! Seeing the other dishes, which were fine mine should never have left the kitchen. All in all the location is great, service is good, food was poor but worse thing for me was my tea was absolutely freezing when it finally arrived. Furthermore my gorgeous looking fruit bread had turned rock hard and was inedible having arrived before everything else.
What a lovely peaceful place to catch up with friends and family. Beautiful setting, friendly staff, great coffee and delicious food. Space for young ones to run free, a relaxing ambience to let the 'older' ones catch breath. A real find and I will most definitely be making it a regular stop.
I love this place and have been visiting for years. Whether it's to catch up with some work, meet with friends, or a Mothers Day breakfast, Canvas does not disappoint. It's lovely sitting out under the trees or at the picnic tables if the courtyard is crowded. The side room is also good for study sessions (free WiFi).
The setting is splendid: a shaded courtyard in the Arts Centre. Trees and flowers and birds and butterflies. What more could you want? We had the Lamb Hash and the Gado Gado, as well as a fresh juice and latte. All delicious, although not necessarily...cheap.
Part of the Fremantle Arts Centre, a fascinating piece of architecture dating back to the the Cafe stocks a great range of food, has a wine menu and, most importantly, the grounds outside the cafe have a wonderful coverage of trees that provide shade...from the Perth sun. An added bonus is the constnatly changing series of art on display in the other part of the building (they also offer art classes for kids) and a terrific gift shop.
