Kathi`s Steakhaus - Freising

Good food, good service, good atmosphere. the cesar salad with lachstrip was really a big piece of salmon with a small salat on the side. it was very good, even if it wasn't what you could expect. we shared the vitelli tonato appetizer. it was excellent and would have been good as a top plate. it was considerable, beautiful that we shared it. we will return definitiw when we are back in town.

My wife and I went past kathi earlier and thought we should go back based on the menu alone it has definitiw a little from a North American steakhouse feeling in contrast to authentic Bavarian, but see how we wanted. in Europe for 2 weeks, we felt that this was a good starting point. everything about this place is perfect. eating, wine, service and atmosphere were all exceptional. both meals were excellent, the bark was perfectly cooked, and the waiting staff was knowledgeable and friendly as well. if you want to sit inside, you can reserve otherwise there are many outside tables.

I‘m a strict vegetarian since many years now and I dared to visit this steak house. To be honest, they don’t offer a lush variety of veggie food and I knew this in advance. There were only two or three dishes on their main menu...to choose from, but that‘s totally ok for me! I ordered a vegetarian burger with regular fries and a farmers salad. The burger with its ingredients was very delicious! It contained fresh mozzarella, olives, rocket salad and dried tomatoes with some tastey other stuff! The fries were really well seasoned and an excellent supplement to the burger! The salad was good, but I could imagine, that the experience would be even better with some small green side salad or so. The staff was very friendly, very attentive and made an impression to me to be professional in what they are doing! I definetly will return soon to enjoy this extraordinary veggie food in Kathi‘s Steakhouse!

Within 10 minute walking distance from Marriott hotel, nice atmosphere and very popular with local crowed, reservation a must especially after 8pm. The service was good and the steaks surprisingly good for Germany, good quality, good taste and excellent value.

Having read some positive reviews on Kathi’s, we decided to go. Upon arrival we were advised the restaurant was full and the only table available was within a small overflow area. Before taking in the surroundings, we accepted and sat down. We quickly realised the...area we were sat was the entrance to two shops and a bar?!! The shop windows were in need of a wash and the ambience was non existent. I absolutely adore steak and often cook in my own kitchen, I was really keen to try the special Bavarian steak. I’m a little confused as to why you would come to Bavaria and order meat from another country? There was many selections from other countries available. I should note that with a price tag of €39, my expectations were high. My husband ordered the burger. Our food arrived and cutting into my steak, it became obvious the meat was not cooked as ordered, I requested “medium”...the meat had not been rested either meaning the meat juices and blood were on my plate. I requested the waiter return to the kitchen for further cooking. Once my steak arrived back, it was cooked to my preference however still oozing meat juices on the plate. At home, my steak is rested for a minimum of 5 minutes to avoid this. The meat was nice and so too were the accompaniments, my husband reports his burger was tasteless and laden with various sauces, causing it to collapse with moisture. All in all, we would not return. A restaurant focusing on serving steak should have chefs who know how to successfully cook (and rest) this expensive cut of meat.
