Food was great! I ordered tacos and they were surprisingly good for the price! The service was pretty good too, and although the restaurant wasn't some fancy formal clothes only type of thing, the food definitely felt like it came from that type of place. Bottom line, the staff is friendly, the food is affordable, and the building makes you feel at home. View all feedback.
What Zachary Moorman doesn't like about El Azteca Mexican Restaurant Tequila Bar:
What used to be the best place to get tacos in fort wayne is now not worth your time, they merged with el azteca and the prices went through the roof. If you were a fan before they moved, its not worth the time or money now. View all feedback.
We saw in a flier that it was the oldest and best Mexican restaurant in Fort Wayne. Unfortunately we were pretty disappointed. The staff was very disorganized, the service was slow and pretty bad. We had to remind them of things we asked for severaltimes. The menus had food in them. The food was decent but wasn?t worth finishing. The guacamole was brown? None of us finishedour food. As we were about to leave, an employee came out of the kitchen area cursing and said the ?f? word several times (notangry, just cursing). Overall it was a pretty terrible experience. There seem to be many different Mexican restaurants to tryother than here.
We visit Ft Wayne several times a year and there's always a planned stop at a Mexican eatery. On our most recent trip that Mexican eatery was El Azteca. I can honestly say that I think we've *finally* found a Mexican restaurant we can rely on. We'veeaten at well over a dozen Mexican places in/around Ft Wayne over the last few years and this is the first one that has not onlynot let us down, but also has some nifty takes on some old classics. When we pulled in the parking lot I wasn't really surewhat to expect. From the outside it had the look of a building that had been added on to several times and may have originatedas a house. At the same time, it had a lot of character. For a Saturday afternoon we were seated very quickly in the bar andalmost immediately had chips in salsa in front of our faces. We were, quite literally, starving so that first basket didn'tlast long. Our server was Angie and she was spot-on with everything. She greeted us about midway through our first basket ofchips and took our orders. You could tell that Angie enjoyed her work and she was very good at it. Always pleasant, alwaysattentive, and didn't mind slowing down enough to have a brief conversation. Servers do a lot of going-thru-the-motions, butit's when a server stops to engage you in conversation it's a nice touch. The menu is pretty extensive, but I almostimmediately targeted the Nacho Crispies. A bit of a spin on your regular, every day nachos....and it was AWESOME. Fooddelivery time? From order to eating in less than 10 minutes. IMPRESSIVE The décor is bright and cheerful and had anauthenticity to it, not overdone and cheesy like some Mexican eateries. The bar was brightly but not obnoxiously lit, and thebar was well stocked and chances are it had whatever you were looking for. This bar was massive! This was a GREAT lunch, andI'm glad we stumbled upon El Azteca. I think we found a Mexican eatery in Fort Wayne that we can rely on. See you again s
Crowded and stressful atmosphere. Too many tables packed into each room of the restaurant. It feels like you are going to knock elbows with the table next to you. No room to comfortably walk between tables. Food is over priced for the qualityreceived. Many margarita flavor options to choose from. The night we went service was terrible. We waited for our food for anhour before saying to cancel it, we had to leave for our show. They brought it out anyways but not even in boxes. Then we waitedanother 15 minutes and still no check to pay. It was a poor experience and I am certain to not return anytime soon.
I've always liked Azteca. The service is historically slow but not this time. I like how the hostess and server worked in tandem. My server may be the best I've experienced in Fort Wayne. I have 30 years of hospitality experience, recognize skillwhen I see it and Tayana crushed it. Just ???? service. Excellent job. The food was delicious as always.
