What a charming sandwich shop near the CSU campus! A friend recommended we come here for lunch, and we both tried the daily special, the Poltergeist sandwich. It had a bold mustard flavor that was absolutely delicious! I also ordered a side of potato salad, which complemented the meal perfectly. The staff came by to check on us several times while we were waiting, making us feel well taken care of. I will definitely... View all feedback.
What Heather Clift doesn't like about Pickle Barrel:
I have to agree with the other reviews. Why change a great thing? I understand as an owner to want to have your own ideas for your business, but this was a winning recipe. The sandwiches do not compare to the past ownership. Such a shame. The service was spectacular as usual. View all feedback.
Pickle Barrel has been a great go to sandwich shop for my boyfriend and I! We love the atmosphere and the food is incredible! Keep supporting our foco locally owned businesses! They are doing great work here!
I was overall disappointed. I've given this place several tries with the hopes that they'll redeem themselves but I haven't seen much improvement. Pickle Barrel holds a special place in my heart. I really want to see it succeed. But the truth is, it's not even a remotely as delicious. The food is bland and the pickles... Well, I've never met a pickle I didn't like until now. What I don't understand is why change a good thing? I understand that the new owners want to put their own flare to things but this just isn't how you do that with an establishment as well known and popular as the Pickle Barrel. People go to Pickle Barrel expecting OG Pickle Barrel. Not something new, they want something familiar, they want their tried and true favorites. You just can't do a complete 180 in a restaurant that has been a staple in this community for decades. People have a certain expectation for the quality of food from Pickle Barrel. If this was a new restaurant, people are much more opened minded. You keep things the same and slowly introduce new ideas. Measure the customer's reaction to new ideas and base your changes off of that. Also, don't mess with the pickle game.I really do want to see the new ownership succeed. I also want my favorite sandwich shop back. I would be remiss if I didn't voice my opinion and judging by many other comments, I know I am not alone with this.I really do hope that the new owners will reconsider their menu changes. Don't change a good thing, just add to it. I'd hate to see Pickle Barrel close for good.
I’ve been waiting to review, hoping things would improve, and they have….a little. The pickles are still awful. And I wonder why you changed them? When people comment on that, the reply is that they weren’t made “in house” before. Well if no one likes them now, why are they made in house? Also, when someone states the sandwiches don’t taste the same, the response is that the previous owner approved of the changes. But why change at all? It’s what everyone loved. And the second owners kept the recipes the same as the first. Why couldn’t the third owners do the same? The first Funky after reopen was so disappointing. I can’t tell you how different it was. The second was better, but as someone else said, it was just an average sandwich. Not the perfect, delicious, flavorful, juicy sandwich it used to be that left my hands a mess. I miss that sandwich so much!

Sad day! We have loved the Pickle Barrel for over 20 years. Will NOT be going back! Let me start with the positives. The restaurant was Very Very clean! The service was AWESOME and fast and they had great portion size.NOW to the badThis is the 3rd owner who took over 6 weeks ago. I am sad to say they have gotten rid of half the menu, the prices are higher but most importantly the FOOD IS NOT THE SAME! They tried to tell me it was the same sandwich. It was NOT. It was NOTHING like Tobin 's Tummy Pleaser or Funky Punky as the original owner created. The sandwich was a nice big sandwich. However, Very bland. Did not taste at all like before. They have changed the pickles too, I did not even finish it. Did not like it at all. Finally, we ordered 2 sandwiches, 1 beer, 1 water and one soup. Lunch with tip $51.43. Should have not sat at the bar, had to tip. Overall very disappointed. IF IT IS NOT BROKE, DON 'T FIX IT . Keep the nostalgia and EXACT recipe 's that made it a go to in Fort Collins. I am sure some will disagree with me, but its all about the craving and flavors which they NO longer have. Obbe 's for us for now on.
