I love this place! One of my all time faves for vietnamese. We've eaten here at least 10 times. Love, love, love the rice paper rolls with grilled pork and the crispy chicken with dry noodle. Cheap, cheap, cheap. Always busy and always fresh. Try it you won't be disappointed. View all feedback.
What Dorothy Waelchi doesn't like about Tan Thanh:
The food is great. Cheap. Fresh. But he restaurant needs a really good clean....tables, windows, toilets. Just take hand sanitiser. But they allow their staff to serve with the flu. View all feedback.
Been to Saigon a couple of times and didn't know what to expect here, but had heard it was good so made the trip from the Redlands to give it a go. At first we thought it was closed, but no, it was open, just had to walk about a little alley to find the door. SOOO I thought the menu wasn't quite what I would see in Vietnam (more meat dishes on their own perhaps over there) they didnt have Banh Xeo (Vietnamese pancakes and my favourite) or Banh Mi. Vietnamese staples! We ordered a Chicken and Lemongrass meal also a Pork Chop with Broken Rice. Got to say ALL the flavours of Vietnam were there. The pork chops...wow. You could tase they were done over an open charcoal grill. Very very good. Only other thing we had was the spring rolls...these were as good as I've had anywhere. Would have liked to try more but this all hit the spot! Authentic...yep. Worth a trip...yep.
This place has good food! It was very busy at lunch time a good sign. We tried the Phnom Penh noodles and the combination plate with rice. Both were tasty. Would come back to try more things. The only thing I would change is to ask for less sugar in the drinks (which is possible) I had the jack fruit smoothie which was too sweet.

Go here at least once a fortnight. All of their meals are generous and of good quality but I particularly like the combination vermicelli salad. It has a couple of spring rolls, some grilled pork and a bit of chicken together with very fresh salad.
My 9 year old granddaughter could choose any place for her birthday dinner but chose this one. This is not a fancy looking restaurant but is always busy. For entree we ordered spring rolls which had just the right amount of crunch. We generally get the pork diy rice paper rolls because it is such a novelty for the grandchildren. They love to roll their rolls and choose their ingredients. The soups are definitely a popular dish for the locals. Our meals were great which is why we keep coming back. The kids love the milos.
