What User doesn't like about Great Dane Pub Brewing Co. Fitchburg:
I had the Garlic Lime Shrimp Tacos. Description says blackened shrimp . Sounds great but my shrimp looked boiled as you can see in the photo. My slice of lime was dried out. And why corn pepper salsa and salsa verde when pico de galo would taste much better? Also, when I called they would not take my order and said I had to order online, I barely had a signal so I had to go there, order my take out, then wait. I will... View all feedback.
Very disappointed to be writing this note. After years of frequenting the Great Dane and enjoying every visit we've experienced a disturbing trend over our last few visits. Recent experiences at the Dane have led us to take it off our go-to short list. We expect that service can be a little strained given widespread staffing issues. That said, all our obviously overextended servers have been pleasant, professional and conscientious. Ignoring strained service our more serious concerns are over dramatic shrinkflation, declines in food quality and an aggressive penny pinching mentality. Some examples: 1. Three tacos are now two and the primary taco ingredient is significantly smaller. Fish tacos used to have a healthy portion which is now a fried strip of fish about 1/2 inch across. 2. Taco contents are of poorer quality. I was served pork tacos with small portions of dry chewy lumps of pork unlike anything I've gotten before. 3. Scrimping on sauces. Fish taco sauces were served in a tiny plastic cup that was exactly 1/4 inch filled. When I asked the server for a usable amount of sauce she was gone until my meal was nearly finished... the reason; she had to get manager approval to give me another 1/4 inch of sauce without an up charge. Really? 4. Other dishes (e.g Mexican bowl and others) have gotten so small they are marginally Dinner servings. We would pay the already inflated prices if the product was still great. It isn't. It's obvious in looking around that Americans are eating too large a portions but this doesn't feel like an altruistic concern on your part. The sense we get as customers is that the Dane has experience a dramatic change in your business model. It's disappointing to feel we are no longer valued as anything but a captive audience that will not notice a penny pinching attitude that extends to food quality and portions. Unfortunately we get it and will find other go-to places for our casual area meal outings. Sad and VERY disappointing.....
We ordered online and paid online on Mother 's Day. My husband went to pick it up at the allotted time. They said they didn 't do pick-up orders on Mother 's Day. They didn 't make it right and fill our order, they refunded my husband after THEY used a company that allowed us to start our order when they weren 't accepting orders. This 'refund ' took 30 minutes making my husband late for our other plans on empty stomachs. I 'm updating my review after talking more with my husband. They offered him a 6 pack of beer for the inconvenience, but we don 't drink and that would not feed 2 hungry kids or provide a solution for me, mom. They hung up on all the phone calls instead of having a message saying they aren 't doing pick up orders today. As far as making right something that went wrong I am unhappy with them, bad form.
This was our first time at the Fish Hatchery Rd Great Dane. Luckily we had a window seat (the next best thing to sitting outside. our server was friendly and attentive. The meals arrives in a timely manner. All the entrees were tasty and well prepared. The cheese curds had a crunchy, lightly breaded coating. My burger was a tasty juicy medium, and I just love the waffle fries. My wife thoroughly enjoyed her chicken salad sandwich with tasty sweet potato fries. IDK, the spicy cauliflower bites I thought were really good, but others at my table didn't share the same feeling. I think it was because it was cauliflower and not chicken. But, I would definitely order them again. The quality of the entrees is consistent at all the Great Danes. This was no different. I would definitely be returning, and hopefully able to sit on the patio.
A variety of pub fare, good sandwiches, fish&chips, along with a nice variety of brews. Pleasant service and seating both inside and out. I would return.
I have eaten at the one downtown and it was really good. This was a far cry from that one. I ordered the chicken salad croissant. The croissant was hard. You couldn't cut through it. The waitress didn't check on us after we got our food so I just ate the chicken salad. It tasted bitter with a lemon aioli. I had a side salad and the lettuce was brown. My husband ordered a pub burger. It was over cooked and dry. When the waitress finally came back after we were done, I asked if the croissant was supposed to be that hard. I clunked it on the plate for her. She said it was supposed to be soft. The manager came over and I showed him how hard it was. He gave me $4 off the sandwich. I will not return here.
