We also ordered the tableside guacamole, but the waitress explained that it's now made in the kitchen rather than at the table. Regardless, it was still delicious! The place was clean and started filling up with customers. You pay at the register, and I noticed there was only one bathroom. Unfortunately, I couldn’t use it because it was occupied at the time, and that’s the only reason I didn’t give a full five stars.... View all feedback.
What Cyndi Rushing doesn't like about El Mexicanos Grill:
The food was enjoyable, but the service left much to be desired. After we received our meals, our waitress didn’t come back to see how we were doing. My husband eventually had to wave her down just to ask for the check! View all feedback.
Service was good, place was okay clean. The food was very bland. I used two servings of salsa and still needed more flavor.
The menu is large with many different options. I had the Monterey plate. It had one beef enchilada, one chicken tamale, and a beef tostada with rice and beans. The tostada was the highlight of the plate. I also enjoyed he gravy on top of the enchilada and tamale.
First time here. Trying different restaurants in the Ferris area since it is close to work. This is right off FM 661 in downtown Ferris, and trying for dinner tonight. I don 't want to call it a hole-in-the-wall but it So my food arrives, starting with corn tortillas. True, honest to G_d, home made in the back of the restaurant hand made tortillas. What!? Not what I expected. Two types of salsa, one with seeds to make it hotter. The Texas fajitas (only $11.99! completely fill the hot! skillet. The chicken and steak are cut in thin strips and grilled, over flame I think. Fresh rice, guacamole and pico really stand out. This is a lot of food for the money. Mexican food in Texas is not the same as the food in Mexico. Similar but not identical, more of a Tex-Mex flavor. This is not Tex-Mex but it will make gringos happy. It has more Mexico in it than other large chains will have. If you are driving on I45 and want to stop at a place that makes almost everything from scratch, and won 't charge you an arm and a leg, please try El Taco. I thought about it and decided to raise the rating to 5 stars. I couldn 't find anything to complain about, the food was excellent, the price was Very affordable and the corn tortillas were home made! Not from HEB or a tortilla factory from Dallas.
We sat ourselves. There is only one server/waitress. We sat for about 3-4 minutes without being greeted, but the only server/waitress lady brought us menus and said good morning. Food was okay. May need a little salt, but not too bad. Waited for about 15-20 minutes for our food(there were three of us). Portions/price ok. Hubby and son got steak and eggs(came with 1 bacon, hash brown,ref.beans,2 eggs,tortillas$8.99. I had shredded beef, eggs, bacon, fried potatoes with tortillas$8.99??. I had orange juice(bottled). Water tasted fine. Lemonade needed a tad bit more sugar. There's only one restroom for everyone to share. Son didn't get to go in because someone else was in there. You pay at the register. They did not have any takeout menus.will we be back? Maybe.
I was a little skeptical at first glance upon walking in. The building is old and the inside is not very appealing to the eye. The service is kinda slow, but the waitress was personable. The iced tea was weak and the water terrible, but thats Ferris water for you! The Enchilada meal with Tamale was delicious and the guacamole great! Salsa was good too. Prices were very resonable . They only serve margaritas on 2 days and the sign says free. Sorry I cant remember what days they are. Overall I would buy food here again, but order it for take out. I'm just not feeling the lack of ambiance and no full time bar. Also it could use some updates to the inside.
