Editor 's Note: Introducing Motor City Mademoiselle! She 's my cousin and my friend; she 's going to expand the food reviews on The Steel Trap by taking us on a culinary tour through the Detroit corner of the Rust Belt (which, apparently was settled by the French). I couldn 't be more thrilled! I hope that you welcome her perspective as much as I do! 'Bonjour! ' to Motor City Mademoiselle and 'bon appétit! ' to us! View all feedback.

The owner served us late one evening and she was delightful! We loved the energy in the place, fast and friendly service, fantastic drinks, and delicious food. I ordered a pasta with scallops that were perfectly seared and the sauce was amazing. My husband loved his food so much I didn't get to try it, and the soup he got as an app was the best soup I've had in ages. You've got to try this place!
I'm impressed. The waitress was knowledgeable. The food was soooo good. They do not use fillers in their food. I got the crab cake (with REAL crab) and salmon salad with their own homemade dressing. I like how the company operates. The owner buys local art. The mixed drinks are eccentric. They do change their menu 4 times a year. The environment is fresh artistic and clean. I'm surprised it wasn't full at lunch time! If you want a change in pace and something that isn't a chain with an interesting drink and food menu I strongly recommend this place. The location is odd and it doesn't look like much from the outside, until you walk in. It's a lovely atmosphere.
Service was great... Ready to impress from the moment we walked in. Menu was interesting and that's what I look for. The location was a little less to be desired, but should not alter your attendance. Heck, they make their own bread pudding that's all you need to know. Cocktails and beer selections are great.
