This was my second visit to this wonderful restaurant. The first time, in we happened upon it after dinner elsewhere and caught a fado night, which turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip. In October we returned to Évora and sought out this cozy and typically Alentejano restaurant. Unfortunately, no fados this night the next day they will have fados but we did have the fortune of experiencing a lovely dinn... View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Bota Alta Casa De Fados:
Terrible and overpriced food, and extremely disrespectful host. Listening to our conversations and opinions on the food, and starting to argue with us. Also dirty plates and cutlery. I had to go to the washroom to clean them, since we had already ask for new...ones and it came dirty again. Don’t get me wrong, I love food and eating out, but this is simply not a good place. A really wonderful evening with Fado and good food at the fire.
This is a great place to go for Fado! The Fado itself was wonderful, including the hostess/witress/(owner? . We enjoyed 3 or 4 sets of 6 performers, each of whom was awarded with its own individual style. The musicians were also fabulous. We found the food very good, the service really friendly, and it was a huge amount overall. I really don't understand some of the negative reviews, the food took a little to get out, but we were here to relax and enjoy the evening, so we were in no time. I recommend you to come here during your stay in Evora.
Genuine fado experience with a family feeling. Food is good. Service is very slow as the one hostess was also the cook. We arrived at 20:00 and were served our main dish at 22:30. Fortunately, the fado music kept us entertained. Worthwhile experience, but be prepared for a long sitting.
The hostess was terrible ! The bread was bad. The food is not any good to be honest !
So good night... music, food, environment, inviting. Come on!
