The opposite of the commercial chain cafes : a very personal decoration, with hats, wigs, jewels, paintings, very beautiful engraved wood panels made by a friend of the owner with red cedar, native wooden masks...Yopu can have tea, café and scones watching a pleasant view on Eungella valley View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Suzannes's Hideaway Cafe:
This place could be amazing, but only has the location and views going for it and maybe a browse at the crazy nicknacks!!! The service is rude, the carrot cake came with lumps of hair and parts of Suzanne's fluffy jumper!! The place was dirty too and the coffee terrible!!! View all feedback.
We initially thought this café would be a charming spot for a quick coffee break, but our experience took an unexpected turn when we arrived. The entrance was filled with an overwhelming display of fairy trinkets and garden decorations, giving the impression of a second-hand store with an excessive amount of items crammed into the limited space. From crockery and jewellery to dolls and random ornaments, every surface, including the floor, was covered with thousands of items. The overall atmosphere gave us a creepy feeling as we navigated around the clutter, trying not to bump into anything. After reading reviews later, we were relieved that we decided to skip the coffee. It was definitely a unique experience, but not one that we would want to go through again.
We stopped by at the cafe for a coffee and was amazed at the beautiful coloured stones on the gravel out front. Went in and was undeniably shocked by the vintage collection at every corner of the place, so much so we had to be very careful not to break any of it. Looked around and couldn’t see anyone and after calling out “hello, anyone here?” a couple times, the owner showed up. We ordered coffee (there was only a choice of white or black) and waited out front on the porch with amazing views of the valley. My black coffee came in a French press that didn’t really filter out any of the coffee grounds and a matching cup that looked like it hadn’t been used for a while. I reluctantly drank my black coffee in the cup after I cleaned out the cat hair that was in it. Coffee was very diluted. My husband and in laws ordered white coffee and apparently it wasn’t too bad (although I found out later that mil didn’t finish hers as she claimed it tasted weird and had unidentifiable stuff floating in it). I don’t know why but my husband then ordered a hot chocolate for our kids to share. Paid $25 for 5 drinks. Undeniably worst (and expensive) coffee I’ve ever had but the experience was unforgettable. We all had a good laugh after we left about the whole ordeal; from the odd setting of a cafe/vintage store to the dirty-looking cups and the quirky owner who’s fascinated about Alaska. Sure, one could visit a regular cafe or go to the nearby general store for a normal coffee but you wouldn’t have a story like this to share! Definitely an experience of a lifetime.
The place is quite quirky and different but sadly should be closed as the owner is not up to running it. I don’t know how the health inspectors have not been through and closed her down. The coffee was by far the worst I have tasted but it was evident the coffee cups had not been cleaned with a lot of cat hair on the rim. We had ordered cake and after waiting 30 mins for it we didn’t to ask for the bill. After yelling out and searching around we could not find the owner..very odd! Save the trip and just go to the general store where the coffee is good and has yummy home made good.
The view is lovely but that’s the only thing this place has going for it. The owner charged $5 for instant coffee and if you go there for anything other than to buy her stuff she will be rude. We were on our laptopchecking work emails drinking our purchased coffee and she tried to take my husbands coffee from him and told us that if anyone else came to her cafe that we’d need to leave. She then got upset when we couldn’t pay with cash...
This place was absolutely crazy. I had a bad feeling from the moment I walked in. It took a few minutes to find the owner, who finally showed up with half a scone in her mouth. When we asked if it was still a cafe, she replied with "both" while still eating. After taking a quick look around, we decided to leave. I'm glad we did after reading the other reviews.
