Wonderful restaurant in Elkin with elevated south kitchen. Reminds me of some of the southern fine restaurants in Charleston SC. It has a really cool atmosphere and everything on the menu tastes wonderful. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Southern On Main:
I stopped by on a whim and found the staff to be very friendly. I tried the shrimp and salmon belly carbonara, which had a good flavor, though there was a bit too much sauce on the shrimp and grits, and the carbonara had too much lemon. However, both fish were cooked perfectly and beautifully seasoned. It was a bit on the pricey side given the atmosphere, but I would definitely return to sample other dishes next time... Good food and choice. Had Sunday brunch. There are outdoor seating, but they have a flight problem, that is the only reason why they get four stars from me. They try to fight the flies with fans so they try. We would certainly be back here, but know what to expect next time
Stopped on a whim on the trip back North. Great place to eat. Food was very good and everyone was fantastic. Fried chicken was particularly good. A little hint of black pepper in the very crispy breading. Great service
Really impressed with this place. Has become my Sunday dinner spot. Food is very fresh tasty. I have a soy allergy and they always make sure that the food is prepared without it that?s how you know it is homemade. Highly recommend the tuna or mountain trout. Service is excellent.
I don?t know what the other ?costumers? that left reviews about this place are smoking or who paid them off but I can?t see myself spending money here again. The food is very aesthetic but tasteless. We made reservations and still had to wait on a table. Staff were very friendly but were obviously drowning even with 6 servers and a manageable number of tables. The food was fast but cold, as before mentioned, just generally disappointing. They were out of sweet tea and soda was flat. If you do decide to go there, then definitely get the lemonade. Some prices are steep. $57 for two people.
We decided to try this place because of the reviews and the pictures of the brussel sprouts. We went on a Tuesday night at 6:00pm. We were immediately disappointed because they had apparently ?run out? of their famous brussel sprouts. Again, it was a Tuesday night so they may not have been prepared for so many orders, but the restaurant was at less than half capacity and I didn?t see many/any delivery drivers. We ordered Mac and cheese with green beans for our daughter. The Mac and cheese tasted like it came from the freezer and the green beans were from a can and heated in the microwave (because one side of the green beans was hot and the other was cold). We decided to order the homemade mozzarella appetizer and that was pretty tasty. The bread may have been a day old and the sauce from a can, but we enjoyed the cheese. I ordered the bean chili of the day and my wife ordered the broccoli cheddar soup. I enjoyed my chili and my wife was disappointed that the flavor of her soup was lackluster (had the taste of an emergency preparedness kit) and that the quantity of cheese was less than what we?re used to seeing with broccoli cheddar soup. Our experience with the food overall was ok, but there is plenty of room for improvement. However, the staff were friendly and our server, Ashley, was kind and provided prompt and great service.
