I visited this restaurant on January 19, 2023. The food and atmosphere were excellent, but I encountered a problem when they insisted on keeping a credit card on file despite my intention to pay with cash. My bill came to $49.20, which I paid in cash along with a generous tip. To my surprise, days later I noticed an additional charge on my credit card from the restaurant. The Brown Baer looks like. . .how do I say this nicely. . . not much on the outside, but the food is great and the service is pleasant. I ordered the sloppy Joe and it was big, flavorful, unexpectedly cheesy and extremely sloppy. It came with chips and a cucumber salad, a generous meal.Insider tip: There are no menus other than the one on the chalkboard. You order at the bar.
Great typical Wisconsin bar. Lots of wood. Good food when the kitchen is open, reasonable drinks, friendly staff and plenty of atmosphere. As expected the urinal cakes are Chicago Bears logos.
