What cdales1 doesn't like about The Edge Cafe:
We arrived at The Edge and there was no welcome. Just Fiona, scurrying around in the kitchen making food. 2 families were already at the large table. Was is table service, do we go up and order, where do we order, do we wait???? Eventually we went up and ordered, Fiona was a little stressed and constantly apologising for the wait or the lack of acknowledgment. Patience paid off though and nearly 45 mins later amazing... Great little place where the food is made right there and then for them after they decide a list of ideas. while it is cooked, the owner chats away and asks them about where they have been and she plans etc. would recommend to others and there was a real coffee!
We had the chance that the caffe is open and we were well rewarded. we had the most delicious homemade suppe and orange cake. my man has still thought about how the kartoffels tasted so well in the soup. it is a beautiful place, on a stunning island when you visit lewis you need to explore uig. the additional bonus of lasting the local taps, a stunning view and some wonderful art and crafts. Go and give them a knock, it is worth it.
What a gem! We had a lovely lunch here with the family, and it made our holiday so much more special! As said by the owner herself, this isn’t a place for fast food and she’s the one cooking and preparing everything. You really feel like you’re at a friend’s house for dinner, with a lovely homey atmosphere. The people were so lovely and the food was delicious. Cash only and dig friendly (if alright with the other customers)!
To find this delightful place you will have to be adventurous as it is at the end of a very long windy road that ends on the Edge of the cliffs alongside a deserted MOD installation.Very friendly with proper cups and saucers and a genuine welcome. A wide range of food and drinks all home made.In an area where there really isn't much to offer in the way of catering it is well worth the drive.
Great lunch, friendly host. This is a community hub and is just one long table. All food is freshly cooked to order with home made bread and oatmeal biscuits. It has a very friendly feel with all sorts of games and playing cards on the table a really friendly place with a small gift shop selling local arts and crafts.
