The Beef Penang was extremely disappointing. The coconut rice was so overcooked that it resembled a tennis ball. I had to send the food back. However, the staff were very friendly. The Penang dish was cooked in a bland brown gravy with no discernible herbs or spices. I hate to leave negative reviews, but I had to be honest about my experience.
We placed our orders and the food was excellent. We tried the vegetarian pad Thai, chicken pad Thai, Tom yam with shrimp, and mango sticky rice. Everything was delicious.
Pop in for a take away with my girlfriend, this used to be my favourite Thai in Edinburgh but I don’t know what happened we ordered 2 pad Thai they were really really sweet and one of them was tasting like burnt.
This restaurant is a gem. The owner and staff are incredibly friendly and the Thai food is simply amazing. You can bring your own alcohol for a small corkage fee, and the prices are very reasonable.
Thailander in Edinburgh has a lot to offer. While some customers experienced issues with food quality, others were thrilled with the authenticity and value of the meals. The cozy atmosphere, friendly staff, and generous portions make it a popular spot, although it can get quite busy. The vegan options were well-received, and the green curry was highlighted as a standout dish. Overall, Thailander seems to be a hit with most visitors, as it delivers delicious, authentic Thai cuisine at a reasonable price, leaving customers satisfied and eager to return.

Incredible food. beyond expectations. do not judge the outer appearance and location as I was a tourist, this eating was only wow. some of the best foods I tried in a very long time. the personal was super friendly and very welcoming. very good, too. make sure that they specify the level of spice, as it can be very spicy!
Amazing Thai food. I lived in Thailand and the curries here are excellent in comparison. The Som Tam is amazing great spice level!! Great service. The staff are friendly and hospitable. If you are looking for an authentic Thai experience, Thailander is a MUST.
Amazing! The place was such a delight to go to from start to finish! You wouldn't believe that this place handled the customer service with such attention to detail! We told them that we do not have sea food as part of our religious beliefs and they took care of that for us with ease as most of the food had it within the seasoning! The food came out amazing and so filling! We would have to visit this place again !
I have a Thai training, but found that they can sit, as well as eating was fresh and portion size was great, I can highly recommend this place for eating and friendly helpful service.
Great place with great food! all dishes are fresh taste great. the place is very favorable.

The food at this restaurant is truly amazing. It is the best Thai food in Edinburgh, and it has become the only place I go to for Thai cuisine. The dishes are authentic and delicious, unlike many other places that claim to serve Thai food but fall short.
This wee place does mainly takeaways but I sat in for a Pad Thai lunch one rainy day as there are a couple of tables. It was excellent and very reasonably priced as the portion was huge. Great value. And by the way, I'm very reactive to MSG, and this lunch was chilli-sniff not MSG reaction I'm happy to say.
Came here on a recommendation. What a find! The food is fresh and flavours are wonderful. The vegetables and meats cooked to perfection. Staff very friendly. Will definitely be coming back here. I haven't had Thai food this good in a long time!
Thailander is a tiny little restaurant/takeaway on a corner near the meadows. It only has seating for 3 or 4 tables, but if you can get in its well worth a visit. Our daughter is at Edinburgh Uni and lives round the corner, every time we visit her she takes us to a place she has either heard fab things about and/or tried and loved. Thailander fits both. Prices are sensible for Edinburgh and food is plentiful, wonderfully presented and nice and spicey! Three of us ate handsomely with 3 teas (very nice) for £50. We will definitely be back as the food here is the best Thai food we have had in the UK (we live in Leeds and Thailander is just a touch better than the best we have tried in Leeds). Well recommended!
I have to say, this place is great! It's a takeaway spot with some seating available for diners, including high tables with stools. It's a casual atmosphere where you may have to share your table (which I think is a positive thing) and enjoy delicious authentic Thai cuisine made with fresh ingredients by a Thai chef. The waitress was lovely as well! You won't find better Thai food than this. Definitely worth a visit!

Red curry is legit, the flavours are all there and the pork had enough fats as well. Highly recommended, hard to find authentic Thai food here Ckn satay is average, the spices were ok but ckn breast is really not the correct meat for grilling. Peanut sauce was ok if rather weak Pad see Ew wasn't authentic, but it was executed well. Noodles have a good chew, there's wok hey, cabbage was well fried and crispy pork was flavourful. Authentic versions are 10x better but this one was delicious enough Mango sticky rice was fine, mango was not bad for the ones you can find here, coconut sauce was super thick and salted sufficiently, glutinous rice was abit too tightly packed but it's still quite decent overall Price per person: £20–30 Food: 4
Delicious food! Very flavourful, and spicy in a good way but not overwhelming. The chicken skewers were a bit on the dry side, but not too bad. Prices were reasonable, staff were friendly. We had take out twice from here, but I'm not sure I could eat in the restaurant as the smoke from cooking isn't vented properly outside and it flows into the eating area. Just ordering at the desk near the kitchen made me cough quite a bit. But it was worth it because the food was quite good! Service: Takeaway Price per person: £10–20 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 3
