Feedback
Tanjore is an authentic South Indian restaurant in Edinburgh that excels in delivering flavorful dishes that transport diners straight to India. The thali lunch deal offers exceptional value, and specialties like dosas and curries receive high praise. However, patrons should be prepared for busy times, as seating can be limited. While the food quality shines, some patrons have noted issues with service and the cash-only policy. Overall, Tanjore is highly recommended for those seeking genuine South Indian cuisine, despite some inconsistencies in hospitality and minor menu disappointments. A culinary gem worth exploring for fans of spicy and fresh dishes.
Unfortunately, we had to wait 30 minutes for a table despite having a reservation for 8pm. We were finally seated at 8.30. The food was fantastic, but the portions were a bit small. The dishes were very flavorful though. It would have been a nice touch to receive a small complimentary appetizer like popadoms and a pickle tray.
The South Indian food at this restaurant is delicious and authentic. While the starter portions were a bit small, they were still very tasty. The curries, especially the Malabar curry, were excellent. Although it may not be the most affordable option, the quality of the curries more than makes up for it.
This is a small restaurant but the curry is truly delicious and homemade. This is not a fancy restaurant and there was no alcohol served, but if you are looking for a delicious authentic Indian meal close to the University of Edinburgh campus, then this is the ticket.
