it was recommended to visit this place by locals, especially to taste original Scottish food. had Heggies-tatties-neppies for beginners, good, but not extraordinary for our lust. our main thing were baptismal breast and salmon. completely filled, but much too many exalted in the deaf; fortunately, the salmon was cooked beautifully. warm rhubarb and ice was a nice close. good selection for the experience of Scottish r... I was frankly disappointed I have been to Howie's many times but I found the specials very disappointing I could Not find a single main course that appealed and had to choose from the starters. My son chose pork Belly cassoulet and had to search to find one small piece of pork Belly! Waiting staff were good and nice atmosphere but food very disappointing. View all feedback.
Loved the food, especially the haggis, neeps and tatties starter which was amazing. Very busy on the Sunday we attended so very noisy and very slow service. Waitress was friendly and did apologise for delay in service. Excellent value for money.

My sister and I took my mother to Howie's for Mother's Day. We all thoroughly enjoyed it. I had the Morrocan spiced mussels/sister had the hot smoked salmon to start both very nice. We all had the chicken which was done with creamed cabbage and mashed potatoes. Very nice, good portion of food and my mother raved about the cabbage, the chicken was melt in the mouth!! All had desserts bannoffee pie a little too heavy on the cream and not enough toffee for my sister I enjoyed it. Mum had sticky toffee pudding huge portion, enjoyed what she had. Extremely good value. The bottle of French white wine was the house wine and it was very nice. Waiter was very attentive efficient but not too much in our faces service was just right. Overall very friendly and really excellent value compared to other restaurants of same quality.
We went as a group of 3 people. The starters were really nice, but the mains none of us 3 like it, seems the chef tried to innovate, but it didn't work I'm afraid. The ambient is nice and good service, but the overall value is not worth it.
Fantastic food! What more could you want. Great food and a fun atmosphere. Only wish I'd had more money on me for a bigger tip!
