The Black Horse Inn, Grainthorpe

Food was nice, just felt a ripped off when the bill came. We had an Aperol Spritz (which isn’t on the menu) which was £14.50. That’s seriously overpriced and has put us off. Just seems to be the one takeaway I’ve told friends about.

The servers were excellent, but we were disappointed to find that they were out of Prosecco and did not have chunky fries available. This was our second visit and we found the experience to be mediocre. The fried Cod dish was not as good as it was during our first visit.

The food at this restaurant was delicious, but we had to request condiments like horseradish. When ordering roasts, these should be brought out before the main course. The service seemed understaffed. We were greeted warmly, but then had to wait at least 10 minutes for a menu and had to ask for drinks. It was another 20 minutes before someone took our food order. The staff was polite and friendly, but the inconsistent service was disappointing.

Don’t go if you are in a hurry . But If not you will have a great meal at a reasonable cost. I will keep coming back.

The food here is always good, but once again that didn’t have nearly enough staff on so the service was very poor. It took over half an hour to get a drink!! They need extra staff on weekends, especially Sundays so don’t go unless you are prepared for a long wait.
