Long association with this lovely country pub. Food was very good. A little disappointed with the greeting and table service a tad distant but did not spoil our lunch View all feedback.
What Alistair D doesn't like about The Red Lion:
We chose to have lunch at this restaurant because they permitted our dog to be in the bar area. The menu was typical of a pub and nothing out of the ordinary, but the specials caught our attention. Unfortunately, the starters (chicken wings and prawn cocktail) were quite average so we rated them a 4 out of 10. The special main courses were even more disappointing. The cottage pie, priced at over £21, was mostly mash... View all feedback.
We ate here last night, spur of the moment decision. It was easy to book online and when we arrived we were given a friendly welcome.. I've has a beer in the garden before (stunning views) but the inside was just as nice, cosy with lots of individual touches so although it's a fullers pub it has a very local pub feel to it. We had a range of food from the standard and specials menu and it was all delicious but social mention for the baked garlic mushroom which a taste sensation, as you can see from the photo I was half way through eating before I thought to take a pic! Great service, with really friendly staff. Loved it.
Today, I enjoyed lunch at this restaurant with two friends. The atmosphere was very welcoming, the staff were attentive, and we received excellent service. The food was also very tasty!
I recently took a friend to The Red Lion for lunch, and we had a wonderful experience. The staff was welcoming and attentive, and the timing of our meal was perfect. The food was delicious, with my friend raving about the 'Pork Belly' dish as the best she had ever tasted. I enjoyed the Lasagne, which was also very good, paired with a couple of glasses of smooth Shiraz. We both cleared our plates and appreciated the thoughtful touch of water served in a chilled bottle. After our meal, we enjoyed a tour of the older parts of the pub with the landlord. It was a brilliant lunch experience that we didn't want to end. Thank you to all the staff at The Red Lion, we will definitely be returning.
Myself, wife and mother-in-law visited for Sunday lunch. Very busy! Took a while (20mins for our orders to be taken, but that was OK as we could see they were busy. Two roast dinners, two very disappointed diners! The veg consisted of one slice of carrot and a tablespoon of cabbage. Oh and a single healping of cauliflower cheese between two. But the potatoes stole the show with their impenetrable exterior. None were able to be eaten! I played it safe with a burger, at least so I thought. The driest burger I 've ever had the misfortune to endure (and I 've eaten a lot! . We did complain, twice in fact. The first response was I 'll pass it onto the chef (no apology from the serving staff or chef . The second complaint was met with I 'm sorry to hear that (the meteor like potatoes and was there no special sauce in the burger? There should have been . I stood for a moment expecting an apology and I was not disappointed sorry luv was the extent of the apology. Never, I repeat never will I go there or recommend to anyone else!
