Beautiful meal with generous portions. beautiful dessert. very pleasant staff. would recommend
Visited for the first time tonight for the Martell's band. brilliant venue , lovely staff and the menu looks fab too.
The burgers were terrible: greasy, thin, and seemed very low quality. The buns were either still frozen or stale, the garlic bread came from an extremely cheap baguette, and the mussels upset our stomachs. The calamari turned out to be onion rings instead, and the chips were dry and cold. The ingredients were clearly low-grade and poorly put together. The service was just as lacking as the food. The two men at the bar were unfriendly and seemed to have no customer service skills. They appeared to be inexperienced in the industry, and their response to a complaint was absolutely unacceptable. Although they did replace the food, there was no apology given, and it was obvious they regarded the complaint—about a cold burger and stale bun—as trivial. Additionally, the microwave seemed overwhelmed by the demands of a large group. The fact that a quick Google search shows this pub listed as 'NO LONGER A CHINESE' says it all. If only it were still a Chinese restaurant—there's no way it could be worse than this pub.
"Fantastic experience! The soup was served at the perfect temperature, and the butter was wonderfully spreadable. The cold pint was refreshing and the hygiene standards were impressively clean. The service was excellent, and the staff were very helpful, truly a credit to the establishment. The light snacks were satisfying, and the fish was delicate yet flavorful. We had a very enjoyable evening and are looking forward to trying more dishes from the menu. The prices were also very reasonable."
However, our visit today was met with a rude greeting from a large man who, as soon as we walked in, curtly asked, "Are you eating with us today?" He immediately suggested we sit at the small table right in the walkway to the Carvery, despite the fact that 80% of the pub was empty. We requested a table near the TVs since we were planning to stay for the afternoon, but he refused. My wife ended up sitting at the tiny table right in front of the bar, where we felt cramped and uncomfortable with patrons walking by. Frustrated, we left and discovered the "Magpie" in Stowmarket, where we were greeted by friendly staff and enjoyed fantastic food. We ended up spending the whole afternoon there. The rude behavior of the man at the Fox was disappointing, but it led us to find a much better spot at the Magpie, where we received excellent service and had a lovely meal for less money. Thank you, rude man, for directing us to a better experience!
