CLOSED FOR RENOVATIONS UNTIL AROUND AUGUST. This is an amazing little restaurant. It doesn't seat many so bookings are highly recommended. It's very cosy and has a romantic ambience. The service is really good and the food is great. It's on the expensive side but that's justified. View all feedback.
Dined on a Monday night and had the place virtually to ourselves. The mains are a little on the spendy side but the quality justifies the price. The five spiced duck was cooked beautifully and my wife had the venison which was devine.Being dairy intolerant deserts are always difficult, however the chef was more than happy to whip up a meringue and fruit alternative which I gobbled!Naturally being the only ones there the service was very attentive!
The old church has been transformed into a stylish restaurant and delightful function centre that serves for weddings and other celebrations. The menu focuses on classic pork, beef, fish and veal dishes as well as pasta and vegetarian options with a French/Italian influence. The slow cooked pork belly was melt in the mouth texture with superb accompaniments of white beans and haloumi. Venison medallions were tender and included celeriac puree with a delicious reduction mushroom star anise flavoured jus. Crisp vegetables were provided to share. An alternative is to try two entrees as all meals come in two serving sizes. For sheer indulgence, a degustation menu proves a taste of 6 dishes for $85 with optional matching wines for additional cost. The extensive wine list has local wines competitively priced with Australian and imported offerings at not unaffordable prices, although this is a fine dining style establishment so expect higher end pricing. Staff are knowledgeable and attentive to needs and a cosy fire adds to the ambiance on cooler winter nights. All in all a worthwhile visit for that special occasion.
Best beef I've had in a long time. Perfectly roasted vegetables and meat cooked to perfection in wine sauce, 5 stars!
Wow!!!! What a little gem!!! We went to this restaurant on recommendation for our wedding anniversary and we weren't disappointed. The setting was beautiful with the open fire lit, lovely background music playing few candle lit tables. The service is not to be faulted, our waitress was friendly tentative. The food AMAZING!!!! Don't be fooled by the size of the dish as the quality flavor is devine. We can not speak highly enough of this restaurant and will be telling everyone about it. Hopefully we return to this beautiful little gem in the not to distant future.
My New Favourite. First things first... If you come here wanting a 20oz steak with chips and gravy go to a pub. If you have to gulp your food before the dog gets it, stay at home.<br/ <br/ On the other hand, If you know which fork to use during a meal; can eat without your mouth open; know the meaning of quality and have that special someone in your life that is worth a shower, a shave and a night at a good restaurant then this is the place to go.<br/ <br/ I will say that the quantities are not huge for a meal but they are so magnificently prepared that you eat it at a gentle pace and savour every bite because every bite is worth it. <br/ <br/ The Old Church has room for twenty five tables but they set ten with plenty of room between them so that you can have conversation without hearing that of others. The fireplace and lounge area is perfect for the after dinner coffee (or port). The service on the day we went was polite, regular and excellent.<br/ <br/ I had never had pork belly as good as this they then had me decide that I had a new favourite venue for sticky date pudding. If you like cheese, the cheese platter is excellent value for money.<br/ <br/ Considering the money charged at other places on the mountain, I would gladly return for some fine fare instead of the pub grub at other places at not too dissimilar prices.<br/ <br/ Excellent.
