I wanted to treat my family to a steak dinner in Old Montreal and stumbled upon this restaurant. The service was exceptionally friendly and attentive, the steaks were delicious (especially the platter for two that I shared with my son), and they had an interesting selection of wines and tasty fries. I would definitely return in the future. View all feedback.
What Claudine Spinka doesn't like about L'Atelier d'Argentine Vieux-Port:
I went with a group for a birthday. It was the worst service any of us had ever experienced. Our waiter only took a couple of drink orders and then left for more than 20 minutes before we checked in to take the rest of the table order. For the food we had to tell him that we had to order. Then he took 4 orders, went away and didn't come back. When we got him to come back after telling several other workers we needed... View all feedback.

I can't speak to the quality of the food. The restaurant was relatively empty. After being there for 30 minutes and having received only drinks (and not having our order for food taken) we left.
We had a reservation and were promptly shown to a table, it was down hill from there. We all ordered drinks and waited 45 minutes for them to arrive, no explanation so it must be normal service. We order our meals before the waitress can escape and settle in for another long 45 minutes. Since a number of the meat selections were not available, especially the Argentinian cuts,I ordered the Ribeye steak, medium rare, closer to rare. This is an Argentinian beef place, right, mmm this is going to be good. What I received was a small half inch thick, not medium rare, not juicy piece of meat. Two of the other three with me were far from happy with their meals, only the foodie was content, but then he had to be, he selected the place.
L'Atelier d'Argentine is a nice place in a busy party street. It is great to sit outside, looking at the people passing by, drinking Malbec - of course if they bring it to you. We ordered a salad to share, bottle of Malbec and two main courses. Salad came, but no sign of our wine. We had to ask for it two times until they brought the bottle to us. Oh well... Salad was nice with fresh vegetables and great sauce. I ate lamb shepherd's pie and it was ok, but it was huge with a lot of lamb. However, nothing was special there, so it's just - ok.
Awesome, beautiful restaurant! The food is amazing. The staff is extremely attentive and we fell in love with Chau Nguyen.......
