What Bruce James doesn't like about Gena's Sierra Inn:
The location and restaurant are great. However, room #3 is small and needs a total renovation. The queen sized bed was very bouncy and not comfortable. The mattress and pillows smelled of body odor. Also, the bathroom sink was dirty and did not drain properly. Because of these issues, we left after one night when we had reservations for two. The refrigerator and a/c worked well. We ate 3 meals at the restaurant and they were all very good.Nearby activities: Great location for access to Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Parks.Food drinks: The food was very good.

We stayed at Gena’s as a stop-over as it is very close to Sequoia National Park. We enjoyed the service and food at the restaurant. The rooms are small (there’s no room for luggage), but they are clean and the shower worked well. We also appreciated the coffee an coffee machine in our room. Be aware that the walls are really thin though, so without earplugs you hear your neighbors and everything that goes on in front of the rooms, including the roaring sound of the heavy traffic that passes by at great speed. The airco in our room was also very loud. If I had known about the noise, I probably wouldn’t have booked. Then again, the price is reasonable for the location, the people are very friendly and the communication before our trip was excellent.
So this restaurant is absolutely awesome exterior and historical. Very likely has some great bands that come by play. However the service and food was not up to par. Both my guest I waited two hours for our food. We were on our way up to the Sequoia's making a stop to grab a bite. It was as-if they forgot to put our order in. We enjoyed some beer but the food was not worth the wait needless to say. We ordered the garlic fries, there was no garlic on it. This place could use a little help but with great help it would be a great place. I could already see the potential.
If you’re looking for luxury then drive on by but if you want a safe feeling gentle friendly place this fits the bill. The room was really small as was the bathroom, and everything was ‘hick’ but served it’s purpose nonetheless. We had a one night stay here and ate in the diner next door. The food was really great and fairly priced. And once again the service was friendly and efficient.
