Oshibori Authentic Japanese - Dundee

I was excited to visit Oshibori. I haven't had sushi for so long and I couldn't wait to try it. When you are coming in to the restaurant the air smells of wood, the decor is nice, more modern than traditional, but lack of music was disturbing. Nice waitress welcomed us etc. So far so good until. I love Japanese tea, so first what I have ordered was green jasmine tea and it came in teabags with only 1/3 of teapot of water in the pot. Big disappointment. Then we were waiting 50min for our food. Hubby had vegan ramen and I had sushi with miso soup. Miso soup was very weak, no tofu in it, and just warm. The miso soup arrived 30min after our placing order, and only I had it, hubby still awaiting. Another 25 min and out food finally arrived. Another disappointment... I should maybe took closer picture on my sushi but it was looking like made by amateur. You know after 50min I could expect something better. Hubby said his ramen wasn't wow too. So yes... We gave it a shot but we are not coming back.

This was one of the most disappointing meals of our lives, front start to finish. Firstly when we arrived the gate next to sign was locked. We then discovered we had to enter through an old Chinese restaurant! The decor was extremely strange, almost like being in an antique shop. The chairs were dirty and the tables were not cleared around us for an hour. The one waitress working seemed confused at all times and very slow. The food itself was appalling for the price. There was no flavour to anything we ordered. We have had better sushi from supermarkets!!! We weren’t given plates and we’re not offered soy sauce etc with our food. Please avoid at all costs!!

Eating was amazing and the staff was very attentive. I loved the facility. I understand that they renovate below, but good work for adapting to these difficult times. my partner and I had a brilliant experience

What do I say? the whole experience of eating here was amazing. beautiful decoration and eating is incredible. there is a great selection of food. I'm just sorry I couldn't taste everything. Of course, that means I have to go back and forth. if they are in dundee, then this restaurant is not to be missed

When we arrived at 18:45, it was calm and we sat immediately. the server was friendly and attentive. the music was calm, as others have mentioned, but personally we appreciate that we hear each other. the restaurant began to fill later and we were so impressed by the server as it was clearly busy and she seemed to manage everything alone, but she has constantly checked on us and always completely quiet and in control. the tables are very spaced apart, which is not only more codified safe, but we also feel as if we had something private sphere and were not collapsed. After we read other reviews, we were ready for a waiting period and made sure that we did not starve so that we had no problems that our drinks were brought very fast and I can not say that I had a special waiting for the meal that I had been affected by some reviews. it was a birthday meal and we spent 2 hours eating with our time and talking we found the atmosphere very comfortable and were not in a hurry, but maybe had other problems when they were very hungry! we shared a plate, so for £10 a head we were totally happy. I thought they were very generous with the sizes of cuts compared to other sushi we had, and appreciate the presentation. we were a little nervous about our booking after we had read some of the negative reviews, but did not find any of these problems themselves. did not think it was dirty, enjoyed the ambiente, eating was pleasant, service was excellent, and worth for money smart seemed completely normal for cooking made sushi. the decor was quirky, but we thought it was funny and the garden was absolutely stunning. one of the more relaxed culinary experiences I had post-covid and we will definitely be back!
