Some patrons have expressed disappointment in both the food quality and service, citing burnt and tasteless dishes. However, others have praised the delicious specials, accommodating staff, and wide selection of mac and cheese options. The pub's inviting atmosphere, friendly service, and picturesque surroundings have garnered positive reviews from some customers, making it a hidden gem for fish and chip enthusiasts and those seeking a taste of Scotland on Vancouver Island.
Best burgers in the valley. Staff are always friendly and the view is exceptional. Great beer selection and the gravy is to die for. A great place to stop in at.
Very disappointed. Consistently bad food. You know the situation where there's a special occasion and only two people out of five in a party are eating because three of you have sent your meals back because they're burnt and tasteless? That was the case when we took visitors from out of town to celebrate a birthday. The three mac and cheese's came back out for the second time cold and full of liquid. How hard can it be? So bad and so frustrated at this point we got up and left without paying and told the owner to contact us if theres a problem - this is completely unacceptable food and service. Embarrassing shame in such a beautiful location.
I feel sorry for the service staff who have to push out this sub standard fare. The owner is focused on cheap food, not good food. Such a shame as the view is amazing. I am not sure that the others who like it here have taste buds. Compared to the Genoa Bay Cafe or the Cow Cafe, this place is really no t in the same game.
When your in Maple Bay looking for a pub to have a pint this is your place. We always take our guests from out of town here to eat and have a drink. Wonderful views from the inside and from the covered deck we have even seen whales in the bay while eating at the Lion Rampant. The food is good abit of a Scottish theme haggis is on the menu along with burgers and Mac and cheese. Leave the kids at home this is for adults even have live music quite often. Enjoy
We sat out on the deck and the view was to die for. The special was delicious and they did a wonderful accommodation for my friend who is allergic to garlic. Very reasonable and staff were wonderful
