The restaurant has a stunning view over the harbour. The food is excellent, imaginative well prepared. The staff friendly. If you are staying in the hotel it really doesn't make sense to go elsewhere View all feedback.
What RicRiordon doesn't like about Chez Roux:
On our 3 week trip touring Scotland, there were two dining experiences that were memorable for their disappointment and this was one of them. I had Lobster after some persuasion from the waiter and it was quite delicious, but what preceded it and followed it was just OK. The dining experience overall was inconsistent in terms of poorly trained staff serving the table which created confusing and awkward moments throug... View all feedback.
THe view at this restaurant is beautiful and the food is very good. We had the duck and the cod, followed by a delightful chocolate fondant dessert. The young waiter and waitress were delightful and looked after us well.
My wife and i stayed here for 2 nights last week whilst we were touring and were delighted broadly with the hotel's offering, but unfortunately this did not include the food. we ate in the restaurant on the first night and we were both slightly disappointed with our mains-my wife's fish was bland and under seasoned and my risotto was OK. We did not eat here on the second night as we had a big lunch and shared a cheeseboard instead as we weren't hungry. on the plus side, we cannot thank Laura enough for her warmth of character and welcoming personality. When we mentioned the issues with the food on the second evening, she immediately deducted these items from our bill-we didn't aske her to do this, but she wanted us to be happy. She cant do enough for you and wants to make your stay as perfect as possible. I would urge the management of this hotel to please recognise the value of this terrific employee as she is amazing and an asset to this establishment. would also like to thank Angie on the front desk for her help and assistance throughout our stay. Hope to see you again-Manoj Hasu Anand
We had a nice stay here as a family of 4 for one night whilst doing our NC500 route. We received a very warm welcome on arrival. We had two twin rooms that had nice views over the Loch. They were spacious rooms with new very good quality bathrooms with gorgeous Arran Aromatic toiletries. The restaurant served some lovely food, the fresh fish was amazing. The waitress was very friendly and made us feel very welcome. Breakfast was great and we felt very well looked after.
The restaurant has a wonderful view of the bay but after that, everything else is average. The room itself is sparsely decorated and without any warmth or style. The staff are pleasant but no one seems to be managing things so service is very disorganised. Food is OK but there seems to be some strange issue with some diners eating thigs that aren't on the menu. We were told there was no lobster, yet we saw others eating it after, and not before we had been refused. It's passable if you are staying here but don't bother if you are looking for an enjoyable meal out.
My wife and I visited on the 18th September for a meal to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. The Cullen skink for my starter was beautiful and my chicken main course wasn't bad either. My wife enjoyed her meal as well. 3 courses for my wife and 2 for me plus 3 drinks cost just less than £70, very good value for the quality of the food. The staff were very nice as well, we were given a champagne cocktail on the house because it was our anniversary. Would definitely recommend and we will be visiting again next year.
