Great place and a lovely evening! The service was impeccable, the food fantastic. Lots of great flavors, served beautifully. Only complaint is that the seating if you are just two is VERY close to the table next you ... we wound up chating w/the folks at the next table because it kind of felt like they were at our table lol. If you are looking for privacy you should probably ask for it when you make your reservation.... View all feedback.
What Bailey Rider doesn't like about Avelina - Denver:
3/7/23 The leek and potato soup was amazing, the mussels were amazing, the bison short ribs were AMAZING. Finally a restaurant that came through for Denver restaurant week. Delicious. I will definitely be coming here again sometime soon. The only thing I wouldn’t recommend was the sorbet, the texture was off and so was the flavor, it was not my cup of tea.6/10/23 update- came back here after restaurant week to order the same bison short ribs. They were completely over cooked, dry, and chewy. Not worth coming here for. This restaurant, which was at the top of my list, just fell to an average position.
This restaurant really WOWS! I live in Denver and know the restaurant scene well-Avelina is exceptional, it's a must try.
My wife and I went here for a quick drink before the ballet, so we didn't try the food, but the menu looked really good Ambiance: very nice.
Ate here w our kids and had a nice meal. Kids had a buffet designed for them which worked out great and. Ore higher end restaurants should heed this call. $15 each but included lots of choices which kids love as well as deserts and a drink. I had the swordfish which was a bit overdone and a bit tasteless. My wife had the filet which was served over a tomatoe based medley of zucchini and squash which really didn't go with it very well. Read reviews and told side of Russell sprouts was roasted but they arrived steamed and again tasteless. All in the best part of the meal was our excellent waiter. Ate at pacific grille the night before and that meal was a lot tastier.
Ramon's is an awesome waiter with 42 years of experience on the La Costa property!
