FANTASTIC- this was the experience I’ve been looking for in Philly. Quaint restaurant with fantastic food, excellent service- owner came over to us multiple times to personally offer us help- and they let us hang out and talk at our table as long as we pleased. Did not feel rushed at all. BYOB!! We got the squid ink pasta with calamari and the NY strip steak special. Fantastic home cooked Italian meal. Adding this pl... View all feedback.
What Joaquin Delmar doesn't like about La Viola Bistro:
This is the worst restaurant in Philadelphia by quite some distance. The food is so beyond bad, it is criminal what they charge you for what you are eating. Please stop going here and giving this place business. The pasta is over-cooked. Sauces are splitting. The seafood isn’t fresh. The plates aren’t authentic. There is so much better Italian food in this great city. All of the desserts taste like they have been ref... View all feedback.
Although the food was very good, the room looked like nothing short of an alleyway that had just been enclosed. We ordered off of the prix fixe menu for lunch and when the bill arrived we were told that the restaurant took cash or checks only. This was never mentioned on the phone, on the website or on the menu! There were twelve of us and I had the corporate credit card ready to pay for the meal. When I inquired, I was told there is an atm behind you! So, knowing I would get reimbursed later, I went to the atm...Sadly, the atm had insufficient funds in it, but the manager told me You must not have enough money in your account to cover the bill. Then I was told You need to figure out a way to pay the bill. I was with a group of senior citizens from a retirement home who had to help me come up with the cash to finalize the bill. I was mortified! I can assure you that there would have been no tip if it hadn 't already been added. How they stay in business without being forthcoming of this practice is beyond me! If we knew in advance, everything would have been fine! Needless to say, the meal left us all with a bitter taste in our mouths!
Wonderful food. Three of us all loved what we had. Service was great. Small place with nice atmosphere. It's byob.
Checked out this cozy BYOB for the first time. I immediately felt right at home. Our server Anthony was knowledgeable about the menu and was appropriately engaging. It was clear that each dish was made with fresh ingredients and great attention to detail. This restaurant is added to my short list of Philly favorites.
Inviting ambience, delicious fare, delightful service, decent prices.
It is important to say that they accept only cash and you should bring your own wine.
