What User doesn't like about Jose Dallas:
we have a table reserved for a birthday brunch. 1. I didn't know I had to give in or outside. they put us outside (in the damp summer). the menu selections try too hard to be trendy and hardly feels like brunch. Maybe I try to eat again and drink. View all feedback.
The Netflix food looks and tastes better on TV. The Netflix special plate was lack luster in flavor and appeal. Unbalanced combination of flavors. Chef’s MP tacos were salty with a thick layer of cheese, homemade what was salty chorizo and pickled purple onions were past pickled salty. Refried beans for some reason had a sour taste. The green looking rice was missing flavor but had a dry texture. There must have been a miscommunication between the chef and the person instructed to prepare the Netflix Chef taco plate special. Today the MP translated to Mystery Product. I was not able to finish the dish due to the saltiness.Potato Flautas good but the hogadas sauce was overly spicy for someone that isn’t prepared for “it’s not that hot”.Patatas Bravas are round baby potatoes coated with brava seasoning served with side of spicy Mayo. Good.Guacamole was slightly off in freshness.Service was good.The dishes had more flavor combinations and uniqueness during my pre Netflix visits.
Had 3pm reservations on a Saturday afternoon. Valet was quick and there was a table available upon arrival. Our server was prompt with introducing himself and supplying chips and salsa. Cocktails, appetizers, and entrees were at the table in a timely manner. Positive experience throughout.Food: 4/5
We were instantly greeted by a friendly welcoming host which kicked things off on the right foot. We were seated in less than 3 minutes and our waiter Cesar was very knowledgeable and friendly. He gave us his recommendations on drinks and food which were a hit with the group.La Malinche cocktail was refreshing, dash of sour, and with a little spicy kick. The mocktails were just the right kind of sweet refreshing. The salsas they provide with the chips are delicious as we finished them with the chips almost instantly.The carnitas de olla were tender and some pieces had a little bit of a crisp to them. The machete is more than enough for two people but the tortilla does get a little hard to eat if you don’t eat it while it’s warm almost tough to chew down. The tacos al carbon were good we wouldn’t go as to say the best ever but definitely a pleasing meal. The carne asada was also a good choice the potatoes it comes with were a little on the over salted side and a little over cooked as well. The deserts were also good with just the right amount of sweetness.We had specifically gone to try out the tacos de tacha which on the show Taco Chronicles consist of lobster tail but unfortunately that day the taco consisted of pork ribs which was unfortunate since we were visiting from out of state.Overall we enjoyed our dinner very much, the service was friendly and welcoming, and the esthetics were modern with a touch of Mexican roots. We would go back to try out other dishes and drinks next time we’re back in town.
We went for dinner on a Saturday, about 9:00PM. The place was packed, high energy, good music, pleasant ambiance. Our server, Eric, was super knowledgeable and very attentive to our needs. The cocktails were good and strong. I especially liked the Guava Mule. The food was hit and miss. Our cold apps came out as they should, we especially liked the coconut ceviche and the elote. The main plates came out less than hot. The short rib enchiladas were surprisingly bland. Overall a decent experience, I would give it another shot.
Excellence restaurant. Excellent food, service and atmosphere. I gave 4 instead of 5 stars because the Masa: Lion’s Mane Huarache gets a lot of publicity, but I didn’t enjoy it. The great: The wait staff really understood the restaurant and what they are great at (Masa and Carnitas). The drinks are creative and have great flavor.
