We have been going to the Metropolis for a number of years at least once a year when we have our annual 2 weeks at the Outer Banks. The food is always different and prepared very well. The same two people who own and run the restaurant have been there all these years and like to tell you how each dish is prepared. View all feedback.
What Seahunter doesn't like about Metropolis:
We realize this is “tapas”, but while the taste of the food was good, the size of each plate/serving was quite small considering the price. Salads excluded. We left still hungry but unwilling to order more food View all feedback.

I like that he knew my dietary restrictions since I am on a Paleo diet. He had gluten-free and vegan menus. Between the two he helped me find some things to eat. It is fine dining in Corolla where there isn't much of that. We had lovely date night. We go every year.
Was craving their cream of asparagus soup strawberry martini made from purée of local strawberries. Did not disappoint! Also tried beef short rib bolognese over penne. Great hearty flavor. Homemade roasted garlic focaccia bread was also excellent!! Strawberry martini was a bit on the sweet side but still enjoyed it!

You just can't go wrong at Metropolis unless small plates aren't your thing. Starting with consistently excellent martinis and a very good wine selection. The mix of dishes gives everyone something to try. Locally sourced ingredients are a priority, so fresh NC asparagus was in the sublime asparagus bisque. Fun dishes like lamb kofta on red pepper hummus vie with more friendly dishes like beef short ribs ragu or petite crab cakes. Drop in a say hello to Matt and Mark.
