What User doesn't like about Mexico Viejo Restaurant Bar:
The staff could not be friendlier, and the manager/host/owner was a gentleman. The place itself feels like its trying a bit too hard, which I don't understand with it being right on the square. Hay un desayuno buffet, fruta, jugo, café el fin de semana. Un poco de queso y huevos para probar. Campesinos, verduras, frijoles. Pan dulce y postres. Muy buen servicio.

This restaurant, in the middle of the historic center of the city closes at 9 p.m ! We reserved for 7.30 p.m and got there just at 8 p.m. We were the only ones eating. Served with rush. Didn't enjoy our dinner at all.
The staff could not be friendlier, and the manager/host/owner was a gentleman. The place itself feels like its trying a bit too hard, which I don't understand with it being right on the square. The food is ok. I had bacon wrapped prawns and queso fundido. I think part of the issue was that there was only one other table occupied and they were trying to close and get out early which led to some issues in food prep/presentation/quality. Nothing was bad, just not very good either. I'd go back if I was stuck but its not on the top of the recommendation list.
Went for breakfast with my wife. She ordered off the menu and I the buffet. Great selection! Fresh hand pressed tortillas, selection of in season quesadilla fillings, (squash flowers, huitlacoche, mushrooms, nopales, chorizo and of course.....cheese). There were refried beans, Menudo/tripe, chiliquiles, eggs, pork, beef and chicken in different sauces. Various fruits, juices, pan dulce, coffee, tea, jello flan, yogurt and granola. I'm sure I forgot something but I was satisfied. Oct. 2018 price 180 pesos. I thought it was well worth it.
