I stayed a night here with a friend the pub ambience was great with a log fire and very friendly staff. Starters were overcooked (reheated) but mains were lovely. The pub shuts early so guests are moved to a guest bar which is where... View all feedback.
What Felicity Cook doesn't like about The Horse Groom Village Inn:
Rooms: The bedroom was too small for two of us and a dog. The bathroom even tinier. The bed was very small tooalso would have been nice to have a Venetian blind or shutter as with Roman blind lifted to let light in. Very up to view! Nearby activities: Lovely village, close to many Cotswold attractions Food drinks: The food and drink very good and the downstairs rooms very pleasant fire lovely Noteworthy details: A pr... Stopped for lunch based on reviews. Very welcoming staff and a good atmosphere, yet somewhat disappointed with the quantity of food, although tasty it would have been nice to enjoy a more substantial meal. Average prices for the area. Hard to recommend based on quantity but will recommend on quality and good staff.
Perfect, had a lovely steak. A really lovely place, Highly recommended.
We stayed 4 nights and ate at the restaurant each night. Excellent rump steak, so tender, cooked to perfection. Fresh vegetables and delicious deserts. Staff couldn’t have been more helpful. Highly recommend for dinner. Rooms pleasant, bit small for twin beds, but that’s the UK in general if you stay at Inns which are 450 years old!
What a little gem. Didn't catch our waiter's name, but he was the young lad. Such a delight. Lovely welcome, fitted us in no problem without booking. Very country feel and very clean. My bum hadn't even hit the chair and he asked if we'd like water or drinks! Lovely service! We had croquettes to start, delish. Crispy, fresh and packed with ham. Then I ordered the ham hock but with salad. This was no issue and a large, fresh, dressed salad came with the ham. Ham fell off the bone. Wonderful, tasty. Other dish was fish and chips. Fresh, light batter with tasty crispy chips. Plentiful. I couldn't finish the ham! Dessert looked tasty but we were full. 100% recommend this gem. Don't drive by without stopping for lunch.
We came for a midweek lunch (had previously popped in for a drink and chips and decided it was worth another visit for a proper meal). There were treats and water available for our dog, and we were given a nice table to the side with space to put our pushchair. Drinks selection was good (3 real ales on offer) and olives/padron peppers to start were great. For mains we had the steak and squid with rice noodles. Both excellent. Service was friendly and efficient. Nice walks nearby around Daylesford. Would highly recommend.
