What NL2266 doesn't like about The Balancing Eel:
Just had 2 kids meals. Small fish, chips and peas and sausage, chips and gravy. I’m lost for words £32 -take out. Might have well tossed it down the drain. Awful. Most of it went in the bin. Portion size was good as were the peas that’s were the positives end. Just rubbish. The gravy was like dishwater and the chips were greasy and slimey. Counter staff rude. View all feedback. What Nigel B likes about The Balancing Eel:
The best Fish and Chips in town by far. Lovely friendly run Fish and Chip shop in a popular sea side town. The chips were to die for and batter was superb crisp and dry, very tasty and served up with a smile. View all feedback.

While some celebrate it as a bastion of exceptional fish and chips, boasting crisp batter and perfectly cooked chips, others express disappointment over overpriced, lackluster meals and slow service. Despite the mixed reviews, many loyal customers continue to rave about the quality, with fresh, flavorful offerings like cod and mushy peas being highlights. Overall, while experiences fluctuate, the restaurant's enduring presence suggests it still holds a beloved spot among local and visiting fish and chip enthusiasts.
