We went to the happiness early and enjoyed this great club. adequate drinks, good eating and the most friendly staff, best we met as tired traveling. landing in the morning, they can spread out for a long time. View all feedback.
What Valerie Bartoletti doesn't like about Bowled Over Bistro:
A very disappointing dinner for us. I had the prawn and crocodile laksa, it was more like a bowl of hot coconut cream with noodles and prawns, no flavour. My husband had the garlic prawns and again no flavour, there seemed to be no garlic. View all feedback.

We had a great dinner last night at Cooktown Bowls Club. We live in Palm Cove north of Cairns which has many great restaurants but friends in Cairns had said we should try the Bowls Club while we are travelling back home (staying overnight in...Cooktown) from a holiday in Cape York Peninsular. Initially when we walked into we were a little concerned when advised there was a very limited menu as they had just had their chef leave. So we checked the menu decided we would go with a selection of entrees instead. It turned out to be a great decision Rogan the new chef did a fabulous job. We had garlic prawns served with cream sauce in bed of rice, calamari with salad, oysters both fresh Kilpatrick all served as shared food similar to tapas. We both really enjoyed it so decided to let other people know.
The restaurant has a charming and welcoming atmosphere, with a menu offering a good variety of delicious dishes. The staff are helpful and the location is convenient in the center of the city.
We were so impressed with our meal on our first night in Cooktown that we headed back the second night. We are glad that we booked a table as people were being turned away at the door. The salads were fresh and well presented and...the steak was excellent. Drink prices are the cheapest that we have encountered in recent years. But the best thin about this club is the wonderful staff who are both friendly and very well organised.
