Was pleasantly surprised how nice the hot beef roll and curry chicken pie was. In the past I've had the beef pie, sausage roll had hot dogs and they were ok for a late night feed. View all feedback.
What Liana Kertzmann doesn't like about Harry's Cafe de Wheels:
First time trying Harry\'s even though I\'ve passed it so many times. They opened late and the service is efficient. I tried the classic beef pie with mushy peas on top. The beef had chunks of meat as well as lots of gravy. The mushy peas were solid and reminded me of a firm mashed potato. The pastry held the pie together well and soaked up lots of the sauce. Will be back to try more next time. View all feedback.
We ordered the Tiger beef, curry chicken pie, a hotdog with garlic onions, and chilli chips.<br/ <br/ The beef pie was awesome. The mash and peas added another level. The chicken curry pie was not very saucy. The hotdog was good, but those chilli fries is what I'd go back for.
This place is great for a late night feed, which is actually just about the only times I've been; I have yet to see what this place looks like in daylight. I always get one of their hot dogs, and I want to try their pies but I'm just so drawn to those hot dogs.<br/ <br/ Tonight when I visited, I had the hot dog, the hot dog de wheels, and an apple juice. The hot dog was so good, and although it was really just a plain old regular hot dog, for me, it hit the spot. The hot dog de wheels was great too, full of flavour and a great hit of chilli with every bite.<br/ <br/ I'd love to see more hot dog varieties on their menu, but the current range is quite good still. The only down side is they don't warm up their hot dog buns first, but if you get the hot dog de wheels, as it's so packed, the fillings help warm the bun up a bit.<br/ <br/ Service here was friendly, and fast, although that might be because every time I come, there's really nobody else there. Prices here are super cheap, like what a food truck/street food type place should be, unlike those fancy ones that tend to overcharge; my meal tonight only cost around $15 for two.<br/ <br/ UPDATE: I finally ordered some pies! I ordered the tiger beef pie, and a cheese and bacon pie. The tiger pie was quite filling, the mashed peas, which I'd heard so much about, wasn't really that amazing, it was a little cold and a little grainy. The pie itself was okay, the gravy added a little extra flavour. The cheese and bacon was a disappointment. I thought it'd have a layer of melted cheese underneath the lid which would ooze out as you bite into it, but the only cheese element was actually just some hardened melted cheese on top of the lid of the pie. The pie itself had chunky meat bits inside, which were a bit dry, and I only found a few tiny pieces of bacon towards the end of my pie. The pie was just very dry when eaten as a whole, and not very nice.<br/ <br/ TIP: use a fork to help you scoop up the fillings in the loaded hot dogs.
It was way pass dinner hour but there was still a bit of a queue tonght. The wait staff was very friendly and evidently food turn over was high. <br/ <br/ Ordered hot dogs de wheel and Beef pie. Both are acceptably delicious. Between the two we prefer the hot dog as the meat is juicy.and it comes with explosion of flavour. The Brit influenced mushy green adds the freshness and softer texture to it. The chili con carne had too much beans but lack the meat. They should also go slow on the onions as it was too overpowering. <br/ <br/ We also find the price in the higher end of the fast food band.
After a late night winter movie, Ordered a vegetable pie with mushy peas and mash. <br/ <br/ Nice pastry and filling, winter comfort. Finish off with a hot choc and go smiling straight to bed. <br/ <br/ <br/
Reliable fast food. Haven't been to the Burwood outlet for a while and it's had a bit of a revamp. You can literally drive right up to the outdoor counter, park and order your food.
