He is a communications expert also so if you have time for a visit-enjoy. His chili relleno is second to none. This place is first class with very reasonable prices. Ask him to make some cacao beverages - although he probably will without you asking because he loves you to try his inventions. Only the freshest ingredients every day. Warm cozy yet contemporary dining area. Muchas gracias hermano Hidalgo!!!
Precios accesibles y lugar limpio.
If you are in Comitan and want to try some of the typical local dishes at amazingly reasonable prices, look no farther than Los Hidalgo! This small restaurant is easy walking distance from the plaza, in the next block down from the main market on the opposite side of the street. It is owned and run by two Hidalgo brothers who are both chefs. Guillermo "Memo" Hidalgo speaks very good English and he came out and greeted our group, explained many of the dishes on the menu and even let us sample several things before we ordered. We tried so many dishes that I can't remember all of them but everything we tried was delicious! In fact, it was so good, we went back there to eat a second day. Be sure to try one of the tortas or the chile relleno, a poblano chile (not spicy) stuffed with chicken and raisins, topped with a sauce made form 3 different types of bread. Also try the tascalate, a corn masa-based drink flavored with cacao and achiote that can be made with either water or milk. I really can't understand why Los Hidalgo isn't in the Top 10 restaurants in Comitan because it certainly should be.
