Such a great place to get a burger, catfish or any kind of comfort food to make your day. The milkshakes are awesome too! Voted best burger in Columbia for many years for a reason. I've been eating here since I was a kid and as long as the doors swing open I'll be getting my favorite burger from them. You can't go wrong with Jumbo House! View all feedback.
What Laurie doesn't like about Jumbo House:
I'm giving 2 stars because jumbo house has changed my card 2 times for my meal on my debit card. Be sure to either pay cash or get a receipt to make sure the charge is accurate however the food was very good and fresh. The wait was extremely long but they were very busy. I don't like being double charged. View all feedback.
Tennessee Michelin Jumbo is ALWAYS busy and that 's the way we like it. These ladies hustle to make the best, freshest food. Never a time I have been there when they were not running like crazy. Someone wrote that it 's a bit expensive for a drink, burger and fries $11). First, inflation. But it was around that before inflation for a reason. LOCAL, fresh not frozen or from a bag and damn good food. Most burgers are hand pressed patties, potatoes cut by hand, onion rings...you guessed it, hand battered. That $11 is a drop in the bucket for what you get...Real food not chain garbage. You are also supporting a family and business own by locals. Don 't believe me, walk in and see the desk just behind the counter. I would gladly pay the $44 I spent today again. Jumbo is the pride of Columbia. It 's not a jem but a unrefined jewel. If you are looking to eat without making a mess, move on. This is good down home deliciousness, you 'll feel warm by the company they keep. It 's one of few places left where you leave the worries at the door and just eat. This place doesn 't need reviews, everyone knows. If you don 't, you will! Stop by and show support. P.s. wear stretchy pants PPS if you want to complain about wait. You go run that restaurant. There 's less than a handful of ladies that run this place and I say they run it well. As for the 'incompetent ' review, don 't be a sh!t. If they got something wrong, ask them and they will fix it. Don 't be petty and hide behind your keyboard.
Authentic local greasy spoon. Their baked chicken is pretty delicious, they serve chicken livers and or gizzards, as well as a chuckwagon plate. Their burgers are great and they have everything from a quarter pound to a 5 pound burger. This may not be the best burger you’ll ever have but it’s a local institution that’s pretty good. Definitely better than hitting fast food.
So glad we stopped here. I had the broasted chicken.... it IS THE BEST..... will stop again, if I come through here, and try the burger. (They looked delicious and that's what everyone around me was eating).
Giant hand packed patties on classic burgers served in a no-nonsense atmosphere. I will definitely be back for more.
I drive past this restaurant at least twice a day, and have had so many experiences with this place, I’ve lost count. Believe me when I tell you, these folks make one of THE best cheeseburgers I’ve ever had in all of my travels, hands down. It’s a greasy spoon, it’s a little place and isn’t for people who are looking for anything fancy, but they know what they’re doing with that grill. Not to mention, it’s fairly priced for what you get. The broasted chicken and other menu items are also very good. Sometimes the wait can be a lot, but that just ensures you’re getting a freshly made burger, which is worth it to me. Probably my favorite place to spend money and eat in all of Columbia, and honestly probably one of my top ten favorite places I’ve ever eaten in general. The ladies who work there are also always friendly no matter how busy they are. Overall, worth a try. My only complaint is that they’re closed on Sundays, but I get it. I think it’s great that everyone has at least one day off, y’all deserve it. Keep up the good work!
