I 'll first start with what went right... Great tasting food, may have been under the heat lamps waiting to get delivered to the table as the pasta was a little dry on top but the food was still great. Any issue we had the manager on duty took care of, so HUGE props to Peter and Stephanie our waitress dealing with a fucked up situation the event coordinator caused for the rest of the restaurant really saved our dinning experience. None of the issues were because of these 2 but instead back of house issues, event planner issues or hostess stand issues. But I was looking at reviews as we waited for our food and it seems that the hostess staff tends to over exaggerate how busy the dinning room is. When we told them we had a table of 3 with no reservations, she recommended we go to the bar area as the dinning room is busy and the wait staff a little overwhelmed as we walk to the bar area we saw the dinning room roughly half empty due to reservations . But I believe the issue delt with the event coordinator over booking the restaurant and running out of silverware. The wait for the food was a little longer than expected, and my appetizer of corn bread and chili never arrived. So when the meals arrived I was a little surprised as my app never came. Unfortunately in the bar area they didn 't have silverware available so we had to wait to even enjoy our food. Even went up to a server asked is their silverware here and his actual response was uh...not sure . I started to laughed and when the silverware arrived a napkin wrapping our knife and fork was dirty and disgusting. Had to take a picture of it... Best part that made it funny was as we had already paid the check, boxed our left overs one of the runners asks if we ordered chili and corn bread...right as we are about to leave. I stopped Peter and talked to him, it all seemed like a joke. He was amazing and took care of us. Seriously Peter made this go from an absolutely 1 star dining experience to a 4. He informed us they booked 2 weddings, ran out of silverware, but acknowledged it was no excuse. And he 's right, if it 's too much close it to the public. He comped the drinks, gave us more drinks, gave a discount on the meal and he too was disgusted at the napkin we were given. I wouldn 't ever return if it wasn 't for him. I will give this place another try and hopefully it will be a 5 star experience because I truly believe it could be if the dam event staff could not over book 2 weddings.
Being from Colo Springs, I always heard about the Sunbird Restaurant and now I've finally made it for the brunch. Staff very friendly and generous with the champagne for mimosa's. There is a tiny military discount but I'll take what I can get Food the food was decent. Enjoyed the prime rib and bacon. Crab Benedict was made and brought to us, poached egg was on point. Some of the desserts were beginning to stale from sitting on the table, for example, the Rice Krispies treats for the chocolate fountain were too hard to even eat. Atmosphere we got a great table by the window and loved it! Perfection! Only problem was a serious smell on the lobby area we had to walk through. Smelled septic/truck stop bathroom ish Prices little high for what it was but not unexpected because the Sunbird had a name and location.
Decided to go here for brunch with some friends. We read some mixed reviews and were a little apprehensive. There were also virtually no pictures of the brunch buffet. So needless to say, I was a little worried. I made a reservation through OpenTable, when we got there the hostess confirmed and asked if we were military. Luckily my husband and the couple joining us both were, so we got a bit of a discount, $35 per person. Brunch included bottomless mimosas, poinsettias (champagne cranberry juice), or champagne. All other alcoholic drinks were $3.50 per. There was a great coffee station, I did ask if they had almond milk, sadly they did not. Our server did say that he'd make that suggestion to mgr though. The foods in buffet were fairly standard, the foods that were supposed to be hot were hot, the ones cold were cold. There was a prime rib carving station, custom Omelet eggs benedict station, waffle bar (they'd make to your liking). There was also seafood station, and a gigantic dessert station. At brunch I like to fill up on the expensive stuff, (seafood and meat) first that way I feel like I got my money's worthI also have a wheat allergy so that severely limits a lot of breakfast foods. I do wish they had oysters, but maybe other times they do. Our server was very attentive constantly clearing plates and refilling champagne. I've been to other restaurants and when they have bottomless drinks the servers can never be found for refills. I took photos of buffet. If I could change 2 things, offer Almond milk, and offer a few clearly labeled gluten-free dessert options. They had yogurt parfaits but some recipes use wheat in their yogurts and granola so I didn't want to chance it. That would be nice. If the weather was a little warmer it would have been ideal to sit outside, the view is very pretty.
AMAZING!!! We made a reservation through Open Table for brunch and were extremely pleased!! The brunch options were extensive and delicious, and the made-to-order bananas foster was killer.... KILLER. Our waiter, Zach, was stellar from the get go. Extremely professional, optimistic, and outgoing; our first visit to The Sunbird would not have been the same without him. His recommendations were perfectly timed and greatly enhanced our initial experience. I am sure other waiters are great, too, but thanks to Zach, this definitely won't be our last visit. On top of the gorgeous view, the unlimited mimosas and champagne definitely ensured we left feeling very satisfied. If you're reading this review and are on the fence about whether or not to choose The Sunbird, jump on over it quickly and get to the Sunbird immediately.
