This is a pretty neat Afro-centric spot. They have live music, but that's not really why I go. After midnight, they bring in a DJ, and that’s usually more my scene. View all feedback.
What Renee Petrie doesn't like about Shrine:
The customer service was disappointing. When I called to ask about the DJ's playlist, the woman who answered the phone was not knowledgeable and hung up on me. That made me not want to return. Absolutely loved this spot! The live music and the overall atmosphere were fantastic. I definitely plan to return on my next NYC getaway.
We all loved the food here ? seriously everything was delicious. The live music was amazing too. Would definitely come back here.
Very lively spot where the dj will have you dancing all night long. Mainly Afro beats with other genre of music for everyone. Drinks at the bar are good but be prepared to wait as the place is always packed. Best nights to go are Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Trust me, the experience at Shrine is awesome.
Don't be shy. The small entrance hides a huge welcome to eyes and ears when you're in. From long play classic covers all over the ceiling merging to African art onto the walls, the colorful lights will guide you to the inspiring acts shining the lights of their music with a cozy burgundy velvet curtain background.Food was beyond expectations as we ordered some fish and chips to accompany some drinks.Stylish, underground-ish, yet elaborated atmosphere.
Incredibly fun! spent the whole night dancing, ate good food, the musicians and crowd were incredibly lively! cant wait to go back
