I came here for a lunch and auction in aid of Support Our Paras, a very worthwhile charity. The venue is fantastic, the architecture is lovely and it gave a great insight into the grand houses of Regency London and oozes military history. The food was delicious and the service attentive a real treat. It was said that the room we had lunch in was where the Duke of Wellington celebrated the victory and the Battle of Wa... Stepping into this restaurant feels like a journey back in time. It is very elegant yet surprisingly friendly and welcoming. The dining room is stunning, although a bit on the chilly side with the air conditioning on full blast in October! Our waiter was fantastic - very professional with a great sense of humor. He recommended sides to complement our meals and he was spot on. The smoked salmon was excellent, and my chicken with Dijon emulsion was perfect - crispy skin, juicy chicken, and wonderful green beans. The salad presentation was a bit odd, served in a tiny bowl with chopped up ingredients. The beef dish received high praise from others at the table, as did the cheese plates, especially the Lancashire bomber cheese. Our waiter even added extra crackers and cheese for us. The taste de tatin was good, although the pastry was a bit heavy for my liking, as a former pastry chef. I found it strange that the sauce was on the plate rather than on the tatin itself. I requested no ice cream but it was still served, and the only real issue was with the waitress pouring the red wine - she seemed inexperienced and could benefit from more training.
We had a fantastic weekend at this lovely hotel. My mother, daughter, and I each had our own spotlessly clean rooms. The check-in process at reception was perfect, with a warm and charming welcome from the receptionist who made sure we were happy with our rooms. The staff were all very attentive and helpful throughout our stay. We enjoyed a delicious breakfast and evening meal, and the historic building had a wonderful charm and atmosphere. We were impressed with the attention to detail and had an excellent experience overall. Highly recommended!
Yesterday, a friend who is a member of the restaurant invited me to join him for dinner as his guest. It was my first time visiting and every part of the evening was fantastic. The food was delicious (thank you to the chef) and the three waitresses, Monica, Rachel, and Michaela, were professional, charming, and a great asset to the restaurant. Our meals were served promptly and with great presentation. Thank you to everyone for making my evening truly unforgettable.
The restaurant is clean, fresh ingredients, tasty plates and perfect amount. Great happy hour. Service is always professional and well staffed. Food is wonderful. Romantic environment, quite silent.. Love the place.
I really feel at home here- the staff are so friendly accommodating. The whole place is magnificent, so well maintained. The rooms have been upgraded to a very high standard, even with AC now (which I dislike intensely). Curry lunch- very generous a good price. The reception rooms are fabulous. I also love the Goat Bar, tucked away in the basement.
